HAHAHA, that's like opening a can of worms. You can either do a fankenlift which is pretty much a complete kit. Or you can put one together, the best and probably most recommended kit would be OME 927/928 front/rear springs, used to use Rancho RSX shocks, but they have be discontinued, you may still be able to find some around. If not go with some bilstein front/rear shocks. There is also skyjacker, but they seem to be softer springs.
Do a quick search under lift kits nd spend hours reading.

Well if the OP was looking at a budget lift to begin with, then my first thought would be they are concerned with price. The Daystar is nice for a spacer lift, and nicely priced, but if his stock suspension is already outdated then I would agree with either the Franky or piecing a lift together with new parts.

If you do go Daystar, then check out this link. Very detailed write-up. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26190

So much information on lifts on here, if people just take the time to read. After 5 years of preaching of what a good upgraded suspension system does for you, it would be nice if someone actually used the info   :-)r
But then I guess some have since Tahoe is not even lifted but knows what works best!

ok ok ..sry tom. :?

Thanks for the input still guys.

That daystar thread/install instructions looks pretty awesome and may have convinced me to get it  Just a little worried that if I do decide to get crazy with the offroading i'll regret getting the daystar spacers. :juggle:

Don't apologize, none needed at all
Lots of people have offroaded with a Daystar lift, just know that your springs will sag even quicker.
Also throw some Teraflex bumpstop's in the front that will help as well.

Best overall is just to do a OME full spring lift, for on and off road ride and control

Ok..I needa make my mind up. :juggle:

I use the jeep for about 90% roads/10% fun (when i find it) but want it always to be ready for the fun (don't we all). I can handle a lil sag as long as its not sagging down and needing to be replaced every few months. They should last at least a year standing tall right? Is it even worth it to consider the Daystar lift?

Post subject:  Re: Rocky Road lift?? Any one heard of it?

When considering the Daystar you really need to ask yourself what you want your Jeep to do for you. Sure you get a lift, and near-stock performance, but for a lot of people that do get it, they end up replacing it with new a spring lift down the road. If all you plan on is the occasional camping trip, and light trails, then you could get away with using the Daystar for awhile. If you even think you are going to do more than that, best to wait until you can afford a good spring lift.

Price also matters. Sure the kit itself is only $150 +- but replacing the stock struts/shocks (speaking of, you will at least need new rear shocks that are longer than our stock ones), and the coils when they go south, literally  , it can cost close to a spring lift anyway.

Just some food for thought. Anything you do is fine, it's your Jeep after all. Just be honest with yourself and you'll make the right choice. My :2cents: :pepper:

Post subject:  Re: Rocky Road lift?? Any one heard of it?

Thanks for your two cents. Wish I knew more about this stuff. I read most of the threads on here about lifts and stuff but havnt never really had any hands on experience...think my lack of knowledge leads to my lack of surety in which product to purchase.

I definitely have some soul searching to do....and friend (who knows how to install lifts) finding :frankie:

Hah to be honest I'm in the same boat you are. I don't have the friend who knows lifts though. :?

I thought about it all and I'm currently putting together my spring lift. I just had a feeling that I would eventually replace the Daystar anyway, so with my extra money I am going all out.

That was a recent thread I had dealing with the spring rates and such. Good info if you didn't look at it already. :JEEPIN:

Post subject:  Re: Rocky Road lift?? Any one heard of it?

I'll throw something else in for you to think about. As mentioned before most everyone ends up replacing any spacer lift they install.
Now what you want is a good ride on the road and off road, right?
With the OMEs you'll have a way better ride on road than you do now, PLUS off road it will be great!
Another benefit, stock springs are headed south by 30-35,000 miles, I took a OME lift off of mine with over 100,000 miles on it and installed in in place of a Daystar and the guy says it rides better now than it did before!
So you're buying a better ride, better handling, plus no worries for several thousand miles.
Its a win-win for you
Sermon over for tonight!

Post subject:  Re: Rocky Road lift?? Any one heard of it?

I replaced my springs at about 30k or so. Went with the HD OME springs. Even if you only go offroad 10% of the time, the springs are worth it. The ride and handling that you get out of them is way better than stock, hands down. So take the money that you have for the daystar and start to piece together OME and ranchos, if you can still find the ranchos. Been preached a thousand times on here, but do it right the first time, you wont regret it.
