Ran into something I think is weird today... a Liberty Renny with no light bar and only two-wheel drive. What's up with this? Yeah, I know that some of the later Renny's didn't come with a light bar, but no 4X4 on a Renegade??? |

I really liked the fender flairs. Rather than being painted the same color as the rest of the body like my 03 Renny they were black and looked like they had real bolts holding them on instead of the plastic stuff that I have. |

I thought all Renegades were 4X4. Did Jeep change their minds in midstream? |

Renegade is nothing but an appearance package, at least from '05 on. Why wouldn't it be available on 2wd? |

Well, I guess I had just become familiar with the other features of the "Renegade" Jeep line in the older KJ's and Wranglers where it really meant something about their off-road capabilities. Next will they be putting the "Trail Ready" badge on the two-wheel drives when they have a special interior package? |

When Renegade started on CJ's in 1970 (IIRC) it, too was a tape appearance package. It did include white wagon wheels and white-letter tires some years. Renegade on Wrangler YJ's was an appearance package, unless you count the tires which improved from suck-totally 27" white walls to suck-less 29" tires, the same size as a stock KJ. The Rubicon is one of the very few packages that was usable upgrades over fancy tape & do-dads. In fact, it is about the only one I can think of off of the top of my head that down-played looks and catered to ability. The older KJ Renegades came with nothing that every other KJ could not get other than chrome fake bolts and other appearance items. I am unfamiliar with one "performance" upgrade that was unique to it. If there is something that improved a KJ Renny's off-road capability that could not be had on the other models and possibly for less money by avoiding a lot of plastic cladding, I am unfamiliar with it but would like to learn about it. Truly, the difference in Sport, Renny, and Limited is appearance. Pick what you like and go with it. That is why they are called "trim packages." But it does show that jeep's marketing worked in how many people assumed the Renegade package meant more than it does. Unless some future production KK package adds anything remarkable? |

Up here everything is 4wd but in other southern parts of the country I have seen 2wd Rennes. I guess I am used to seeing the Renne models up here with the optional "off-road package" which included skids, hooks, rails, and trac-lok. It was optional on all models I guess. (That is how it was listed in 05 according to my sales bochure anyway) But it was possible to get that "off-road package" on any model in 05 anyway as an option. |

My sis-in-laws Renny has no skids, no light bar (thank Cthulu), no trac-loc, and came with the 225/75/16 ST's. Yes, all of the "off road" goodies could be had on any KJ. |

Well, I guess Chrysler's advertising Voo-Doo did it's job on me. I guess I should consider myself lucky to have found a Renny that has all the goody features except for a tranny skid. |

Are you the original owner? It would be bizarre to be missing one skid from the package deal. If you got several options, like trac-loc, then yeah you are fortunate until it wears out. Did you get the "off-road" SR-A's ( shorter than the ST's but still a laugh as anything but a street tire, and crappy there) Sorry, but my disdain for the SR/A's knows no bounds. I cannot believe how long I kept those things on my KJ. They did wear well, but maybe that was the problem. Too hard? They held onto mud like it was the secret to life. Itself. Not good.Maybe window sticker scans or owners manual scans or dealar brochure links could clear all of this up for us. To be clear, I really like the looks '05-'07 Rennies with the flat hood. I don't miss the tupperware on the roof rails and lights or the other stuff. But that is why they made them look different, so we could get something we wanted. |

Not the original owner, so I don't know about the tranny skid. I'll be getting one before I go back out West, though. The tires that were on it were worn out so that was the first thing I replaced. All in all I am pretty satisfied with the Jeep. Just have had to do quite a bit of "catch up" on it since it had 112K miles on it when I purchased. |

The New KK Renny is Basically it is a sport model with a few upgrades that can only be had on a limited model. There are not any performance enhancing additions to it... |

They are available on E-bay. I guess someone got jealous of the 4bys and bought themselves a badge. God, I hope Jeep didn't do it. |
