I should know this.... I have found the info on the board before but for some reason cant find it now. So.....what is the biggest tire/wheel combo that I can fit on the gate? I am wanting to get new wheels...go back down to 16's and get the matching spare but I want to make sure that the combo I go with still fits on the gate. I was thinkiing of going with 245/70/16 like lots of you have but want to make sure it will fit with no modification to the gate or bracket.

You can go as big as 31" (265/75R15) this is what I had for a few mouths
before i put the tire on the roof rack.
without any problem.
The gate is design to support a 50 Lbs load on it.

When you go over 245/75/16 - you might have to turn the mount upside down
it's still bolt up - but it'll push the top out enough for the tailgate window to open.

I've done the same thing, I've flipped my spare tire mount so the tailgate glass would clear non stock tires.
Right now I'm running a 245/75R16 spare tire with no great issues. For fun I once hung a 33" 12.50" tire on my stock tire mount for a week, it looked great . It didn't seem to affect the tailgate hinges but it did dent the body panel on the tailgate.

hmmmm...I wonder what one of my 35" Super Swampers would look like there? :jester:
