So I've seen some guys here talk about using conduit nuts or something to get a 1/2" of lift really cheap. What parts exactly are you using, where do you get them, and where are they installed on the front coil assembly? Do you have to remove the coil assembly completely to do this mod?

I tried searching, and as usual there were no threads returned.

Thanks.

It's called a clevis lift
you push the front stock up in the clevis and then tighten the bolt
the conduits are spacers to help match both sides - they don't actually support anything - it's the bolt torque that holds it in place.

Ok so I found these washers at Lowe's. The first one or two washers I slid onto the strut actually slid up into it. So I wasn't actually gaining lift with those. I ended up with a total of 7 washers per side. The cylindrical bottom of the strut that slides down into the clevis... well now it does not fill up the clevis. There is about 1/3 of clevis "empty" if that makes any sense. About 2/3 of the clevis wraps around the strut now and I bolted it down tight like that.

My CV joints were perfectly horizontal with only the spacers. Now, the inner joint sits slightly higher than the outer joint.

My question is...did I go too far? Am I going to regret lifting this much? Is it normal to have the ball joint at this angle and the CV joints at a slight angle like this?

Are they washers or 2" conduit nuts. I have three on the pass side and 5 on the driver side. More on the driver side just to even out the liberty lean. And I almost thought 5 was too much. 7 seems like a little to much.

Most people run two or three, 7 is pushing the common sense thing a little far. You want to leave enough of the bottom of the shock in the clevis to hold well. Remember this is the only thing holding the bottom together. 1/8 inch or so up in would be OK , more is pushing it like I said.

you were usin these right?

i seem to remember people mentioning on certain shocks that the conduit nuts would slip up past the lip into the can, and i want to say it was on the stock shocks

so it sounds like you filled the void so that you could get a protrusion that would contact the clevis, am i understanding correctly?

Stock and Rancho shocks both allow them to slide up over the little notch/ whatever, two will fill the void up in there. Most times I crimp them a little so they are more egg shaped so they don't go over. Its all for measurement like mentioned above anyways but again 5 over ( with two up in there, is pushing it a little bit

didn't have a problem with that with the RSX ranchos myself

Mine slide up inside on the rancho's but when I had the OME shocks up front they did not.

Post subject:  Re: Conduit washers/nuts?

OMEs have a bigger lip than the Ranchos or OEM so no they will not slide up over

Yeah..what I used is the washers in that pic (except I didn't tape mine together). The first two slid up into the strut/shock whatever you want to call it. So basically...I've got 5 of those washers per side that are actually spacing for the lift. Standing back looking at the jeep.....it is visually perfectly level front and back now.

I would love to post pics...but this forum won't let you just upload pics. :banghead:

Not having any issues with CVs since its a CRD?

My CV joints had an angle when the Jeep was stock. Outer joint sat higher than inner. Now the CVs have the same amount of angle...only the inner sits higher than outer. Since the angle is same as stock I assume it won't be a problem.

My fear is the ball joints. I figure my total lift now is about 2.75". A lot of guys here run that much, right?

Jack it up so that one of the wheels is off the ground an look at the upper ball joint - is it hitting the spring?

Post subject:  Re: Conduit washers/nuts?

No, my ball joints/upper arms do not hit my springs. So it should be OK? Eventually I'll get some OME stuff but I don't have $600 laying around right now so this will have to do me for a while.

what are you sitting at middle of the wheel to the bottom of the fender?
Just curious

Going off memory here...but I think it was around 21" from center of wheel to lip of fender flare as it sits right now.
