Doing a tire swap tomorrow morning hopefully. My current tires are Cooper Discoverer ATRs(245/70/16/) and the tires I am going to swap to are some used Wrangler MTRs(245/75/16) Now I know I am going to have some rubbing issues. I have not pounded the pinch welds yet or put the lift on. Mine is an 02 Pre-lowered, will I have alot of trouble until I do those tasks?

at the worst it'll rub the pinch a little bit

i ran 255-70-16's on my 03 stock sagged suspension for awhile

get the lift on asap, sagged stock suspension will cup your tires

Definitely rub. You will cringe each time it rubs.

i rubbed the plastic right off my pinch welds till i had exposed it and didn't have to make a cut to notch and trim the plastic when i pounded it :P

i didn't cringe :(

my passengers called it the Jeep Flarts tho

So I must be one of the "lucky ones" people refer to on this forum who have no issues. Got the MTRs on this morning, did some driving around town doing errands and they did not seem to rub one bit. Lucky for me. They were slightly used so maybe that has something to do with it but there is plenty tread left.

As long as you stay on smooth roads and never back up with the wheels turned hard at all, you may be fine.

well to contradict myself I do get some minor rubbing while backing up but its nothing like you guys described. I really cant even tell its rubbing that much.

just be glad ur not in my predicament... sagged suspension with a budget boost lift and 13x10.50x15's... the racket is horrible... i've gotten to the point where i use 3 point turns to back out of parking spots.... and swing wwwaaaayyyy wide when pulling in... (OME lift to come soon!!)

Looked at the tires today and tried to figure out where they rub, the only spot they rub is in front of the tire inside the bumper. They clear the pinchwelds fine and theyre still not pounded down.

Go back to the place where you took your avitar pic. :banghead: That is where the lift comes into play

I guess I am a little different in choosing tire size. I want to have plenty of clearance so I don't have to worry when I turn, go over speed bumps, railroad tracks or have to walk the back roads to get to my Moms home when I go visit. :? :? :? :? :? :?

Don't worry about it! Just go big and cut out everything that rubs  That's what I did :goink:
