I see a hitch in the picture... but I can't imagine where else the skid would mount under the tank? Has anyone done a gas tank skid install? Do you keep the tank straps? Do you have to drop the tank to do so? I've started playing on the rocks and need one as well for my 06 libby. Mark |

Skid Row is probably in stock and they won't fold as easily as OEM. |

Yeah I've been making gas tank skids since last summer, and radiator / mud skids since January. The gas tank skids are pretty sweet, you can check them out if you follow the link in my signature. They are 1/4" aluminum plate. They will look much better than the one shown too, its all greasy and grimy from a road trip, and I haven't updated that thread like I should have. They also have half-circle drain holes on the sides at the bottom now, in all four corners. Due to the shape of the rear of my skid I was able to enclose the whole back side, which protects better as well as increasing strength against an upward hit.

Few have, I almost never have mine on due to having to take it on and off all the time for other reasons. Its an easy 1 man install job but I get lazy about it... |

Powerman04 wrote: Is there anything else besides OEM and Skidrow though? You don't want to go cheap on skid plate , You need thickness, a couple hundred dollars on skid is better than a thousand on a tranny..... repair |

I know the costs if I do. I was just curious if anyone else had found anything else out there for skids besides Mopar and Skidrow, or are we limited to those and whatever someone fabs up? |

Yep, they work and several have been installed on the CRD. Check out the thread about them linked in my signature. Powerman04 wrote: I was just curious if anyone else had found anything else out there for skids besides Mopar and Skidrow, or are we limited to those and whatever someone fabs up? I'm confused, yeah, you have whatever Mopar, skid row, rusty's, and whatever someone fab's up. But that pretty much covers everything possible doesn't it? They're all fabricated. Mopar just makes a ton of them and probably use a some different processes, but that doesn't make them better or worse. |
