Im going to be doing a front hub bearing this weekend on my 03 KJ but want to make sure i have the right size socket for the axle nut. I have found 35mm and 36mm on various web sites but would like a more clear answer from some people who know the KJ well. Thanks in advance! H0use |

OEM hub nuts are 35mm. You will need a E12 or E14 torx socket also to remove the hub bearing from the knuckle. |

You also may want a hub puller just in case, like the one in the below pic........... ![]() Makes life much easier if that CV shaft is seized in the hub.You do not want to hit the end of the CV shaft with a hammer as it will damage the axle and you will not get the nut back on.Which will require a new CV shaft to be installed then. Most parts stores have tool retail, they should have one you can rent. |

The torx is a E14 for the 3 screws that hold the hub. A bit of heat on the thread part of the screws make it a lot easier to remove. The ball joints and tie rods nuts are 21mm. You may also want to check your diff bushings and seals while you're there. Just did that job on mine and it was quite worn. Also, if you have abs, you may want to remove your air box for ease of access to the abs sensor connector (located near the power steering pump on the passenger side). The driver's side connector is easier to access near the battery, close to the abs actuator. The axle nut needs to be torqued to 100ft/lbs when you reinstall it. Good luck! |

Well Hub install went perfect. Old one off new one on no isses. The Outer Tie Rod on the other hand .Got the outer off with some heat than went to put the new one on just to realize the last person to mess with the inner tie rod screwed up the threads and the outer would not go on. So after hunting down a auto parts store that was open on Sundays I got screwed on pricing. $75 for the inner. Fought getting the inner off. After 2 hours got the inner tie rod outer tie rod and hub on. Took today for the alignment and all is well. |
