I noticed the other day that when i was turning while not in motion that there was a loud clicking sound come from just behind the radiator it seemed. So I asked a couple friends and just from personal experience I conclude a possible powersteering pump failure, all though the shortage is temorary and sparatic, the clicking noise is constant and even at idleing and not turning the wheel it is still clicking rather bad. I already have the jeep up on jacks took the tires off to try turning with out them see if the lack of weight and force made a difference. It does not. I am considering just replaceing the pump and resavoir, I have replaced a pulley system before on this jeep, the serpentine belt is already off. I will try to post pics maybe video if possible... I have not been on this site in awhile, it feels good to be back. Any help is much appreciated in advanced. I have no pther vehicle untill i fix this one unfortunately so if any one wants to call or contact me directly I can arrage that and would be ecstatic for the help. For the record I have an 04 liberty sport 6 cylnder. Again thank you.

If you already have 1 sitting there it shouldn't be too hard at all. You may have to swap the pulley over tho' in which case you might need a puller for that. Other than the pulley there are just a couple bolts and 2 hoses to undo. Take like a turkey baster or something similar and try to suck as much fluid out as possible because the hoses are on the bottom. The bolts are accesible from holes made into the pulley. Just rotate the pulley til the hole lines up with a bolt and undo them. The pulley is a press fit so if the new (or old) pulley wont go on, get a longer bolt and slide the bolt through a socket and tighten the bolt down on the socket and it will in essence "press" the pulley on to the new pump. Not sure if the hoses are flare fittings or not. If they are you don't even need to seal the threads, the flare should seal the fitting.

Wildman got it. Just that easy. When I did mine, it took literally 15 minutes start to finish! Of course Troy came over with the special mopar pulley puller that made the job super easy! Only thing I would suggest is get the pipe wrenches instead of a standard box wrench so you don't strip the fittings.

Have you tried a stethoscope (or really long screwdriver to the ear ) to try and isolate the click?

Replace the serp belt and tensioner(whole thing, not just the pulley).

Skip the dayco and gaterback belts, get onlt the EPDM Gates or OEM belt. The dayco or gaterback tensioners are okay to use.
