Hey guys,

Was searching Craigslist this morning and came across this guy in Phoenix. Not sure if he ships his products or jnot but it seems he makes a large range of rock slider protection for off-road vehicles including our liberties. Take a look...

He does great work, good bumper fabbing skills. I have seen some of his work on other sites that I'm on.
Be interesting to see how his attach on the Liberty though.

Man, that is exactly how I want my sliders done. Bad timing but I will contact this guy when I am ready to get a set.

Would be interesting to see better pictures of his mounting, can't tell if he bolts into the pinch weld or not

If anyone hears back, please post. I'm in the market for a set, thought I would buy a set from RL, but he's not in production right now.

Sort of same design but sit back under way more
Like the RLs way better :2cents:
His provided way more protection for the body and also is a great step as well

I called and spoke to Doc yesterday and once the build is complete on the KJ I'll be getting a set and the step bar will stick out a bit further than those on the other 2 KJs so I can have a decent area to hold my huge feet while accessing the higher up roof basket and all. We'll be welding mine to the subframing and/or brackets from the long-arm kit, we'll have to wait a bit and take a look at what we got when the time comes. From what I hear though the local guys paid about $275 for their sets.

Also for the mounting, at least for silverdiesel's KJ, he used the brackets that were attached to the subframe with the MOPAR rock rails and thats how those were mounted.

i'm always willing to ship, but you will need to have them welded on. we have found that this is the only way to get them to stay in place. most kits on the market bolt in place and they always work loose when bolted through sub frame.

cheers
doc

I will disagree with Doc on that one ( having to have them welded on)
I have had 5 or 6 sets on different 4WDs that were bolted on. If you weld them can't take them off to paint/repair etc easily.
Mine have never worked loose

I spoke with doc too. nice guy.
hes concerned about the flex on the unibody thats why he doesnt do a bolt on solution.. but he wants it WELDED to the body.. hmm..

either way. hes on my radar now..

quoted em approx 350

Agreed. I haven't had mine off since we put them on a couple of years ago - they're still on there as snug as the day they were installed.

Maybe they're rusted in place.

I plan to remove them in the fall to re-sand/re-paint them, so we'll see how much fun disassembly ends up being.

X3......................

Heck Tom has my old sliders on and they never worked loose, even after slamming 2 feet down on a boulder. But with 13 bolts per side holding them on there not going anywhere very easily.

Doesn't quite make sense to me.
To me that's like saying the skids and everything should be welded on then
Would never do it
But
Oh well I have a great "custom" set that's not going anywhere
well at least not for a while

The Liberty is probably as rigid or more rigid than about anything else that wheels, because of its unibody. Perfect situation for a bolt on.

X4: armor and such really needs to be bolt on so that it can be repaired, replaced, or refinished easily. I hate to say it but I think I'd try RRO's or find some used ones before I'd weld them to the jeep.

Welding might be a great add to the floppy XJ's, though?
