Hey folks..

is it possible to take a 231 t-case from a 95 and up cherokee and drop it into a 02 ltd kj?

im thinking of doing this just bc the cherokee 4-low is lower than the kj 4-low from what i was told.

any suggestions? concerns? comments? :o

Aren't they both 2.72??? Even if the change was say, 2.62 to 2.72, that is not worth the hassle of a t/case swap/

I'd search out the actual ratios, rather than hearsay, before spending a mnute considering a t-case swap.

Ok, I'll answer: they all have 2.72 ratios. Quit slumming with those " Japanese vehicle " 'wheelers and you won't keep getting bum info....

:ROTFL: "Japanese"
It was actually a fellow jeeper that was talkin to me about it.
I wish it was just a swap for a swap. However i actually have to replace the t-case anyways. :(

so what your saying is that it is okay to do?

Match the spline count for spline count and input shaft length for input shaft length. I BELIEVE that both a '95 XJ & '02 KJ have 23 splines for the auto's, even though they used different auto trannies.

Someplace like Novak proabbly has website info to be sure.
