I'm debating how I want to trim the tow-hook knock-outs on my 05 limited and was wondering what other folks have done/used (especially on a rene/limited with the painted bumper skin). Right now I'm leaning towards marking the notch with tape/sharpie and then going at it with a pair of tin-snips for long, clean cuts and a not-ground-with-a-dremel look so I can use some touch-up on the cut edges later. Nothing against my dremel, just don't want to use it on the outside of the body. Yes, I know it's a tow point knock-out and I could do it in 5 minutes with a sharp knife or hacksaw, but I'm a little OCD about body "damage", just ask anyone who's spotted for me Dan |

I did mine with a Dremel using the cutting wheel first and cutting on the notch-side of the knockout, then came behind and buffed it with a sanding attachment on the Dremel. Came out very clean, but mine is a Sport so the textured plastic may have been easier to cut and shape. I also trimmed the bumper with the Dremel using the cutting wheel.

Thanks, LW. I tried a test cut with the tin snips over the weekend on a small area and it looks like shredded wheat. I'm probably going to opt for a coping/hack saw blade with the smallest teeth I can find, cut a hole a tiny bit smaller than it needs to be, then clean it up with an emery board. I'm sure the dremel will be faster, and if it were my lawnmower blade, that's what I'd be using. You're right that the painted finish is the big concern. It needs to at least not chip and be a straight cut for me to be happy. I should have just gotten a color-matched line-x for the plastic trim when it was new. If I get any more parking lot scuffs, I may still do that. Dan |

tape the area that you will be cutting and it will help some as well |

Roger that. Just waiting for a cool(er) day when I'm not watching the munchkin to act on my plans. |
