Post subject:  strut spacer plates???

so if i decide to add a 1/4" plate on top of my strut plates, do i need to take everything off again or can i simply leave the clevis connected and push the lower a-arm down to drop the strut assembly far enough to slip the spacer plate on and push it back up into place. i guess the stabilizer bar would have to get disconnected but that is way less work than pulling the clevis off the strut. has anyone tried to add a spacer plate without pulling everything apart again.....???

Have to drop everything down out, sorry
you maybe able to try and squeeze it in there but I find it easier and faster to drop it all down out, only takes a few minutes to do it anyways

i was afraid of that...... so tom, i put the 17505/927 combo on the front with a 3 nut clevis. im sittin at 22"-22 1/4" from center of wheel to fender.... in your expert opinion, should i hold off on top plates and let things settle a little before i go being greedy with extra lift.....????

22 1/4 now, it will settle some anyways like 1/4 inch more than likely so with the plate should put you at 22 3/4 almost, you'll be good!

 Go for it, ya know you want to !!! :ROTFL:  :pepper:

you talkin about a 1/4" plate or 3/8"...??? are the studs long enough on my stock top plates to do the 3/8"...??? i assume youre talkin 3/8" with 22 1/4" minus 1/4" of settling plus 3/4" for a 3/8" plate for a grand total of 22 3/4".................

3/8 works with the stock top plates. Your math looks right to me.

If you're worried about being too high before it settles completely, wait until 30-45 days (of regular driving) after doing your lift and you should be mostly settled. Put in the spacers and THEN get your "after settling" alignment. Otherwise you'll need to align it after spacers, and then again after settling. Which reminds me, I need to do this exact thing...

I guess I assumed you would go with the 3/8 inch plates since you have stock top plates. If you had a Franky then you are limited to the 1/4 inch plates, so yes you'll be at or about 22.75. Should have no problems at all.
