anyone familiar with the Ironman lifts for the KJ? 4 coils and 4 shocks for $640. The HD front coils are rated at 248lbs of extra payload (winch, bumper etc). I'm waiting to hear from the NA distributor about the spring rates. I'm thinking these may be a very good setup, Ironman makes some incredible stuff... |

front coils are rated at what ?? 248 lbs or 248 above stock ? If so that would be 568 lb |

Look on Ausjeepoffroad.com for opinions on the Ironman lift for the KJ - generally not very favourable. A lot rate TJM's XGS suspension, but I don't know if there is a US distributor. |

If you want to be as low as stock put on Ironman springs... These have done only 1500 miles so it's not that they sagged. (the owner painted them black, stock they are yellow...) ![]() It's the blue KJ...It's a 3.7....he thinks he's lifted...I don't see it.. ![]() He got the right springs... ![]() ![]() ![]() And after his KJ looks like this...

hmmmm, food for thought. Now I know that the Frankenlift has to use a spacer in the front for leveling, but I would think that kit would lift the front end more than your friends w/o the spacer. How does his jeep ride? Is it stiffer? Does it bottom out? From the research I have done so far, they are supposed to be a little stiffer than the OME790. would a spacer lift that brings up the front be worth it? or is the ride really no different than stock? thanks for the info also just noticed that he got the standard duty springs, not the HD units which are JEEP014C. There is also a 10mm or 15mm spacer that goes with this, I assume to balance the height with the rear. Here's the link to their tech sheet: http://www.ironmansuspension.com/html/jeep/24.html |

If they are indeed more lbs than the 790s they are or would be rough I would think From the pictures of his they are ready to stack sitting still and I bet the ride quality is crap well looked and its say from 50-100kg more weight OME CRD 790s are 500 lb rating these would or should be somewhere about 520- 540 But again from Tonys pics those are gone already |

![]() I don't think Ironman will hold my CRD up....He told me the front Ironman springs were about the same size as his OEM ones..now I understand why they also sell spacers. Which he has btw. Under the lower isolator... |

Hang on, it says 'hight adjustable strut' .. My buddy runs stock shocks, that would explain why his bumper is still scraping the pavement with these coils... Quote: Nitro Gas Struts For 4x4 vehicles with strut type suspension systems, Ironman 4x4 Struts incorporate all the features of the Nitro Gas version, with the freedom of the unique height adjusting collar ring system.

Maybe you could persuade him to get those adjustable struts, also known as adjustable bottom perch struts. Many race coilover setups use this, and it is a good design approach, better than spacers IMO. but if you could post how the KJ rides that would be great |

He says they are tougher then the original ones, but he only got 1" of lift up front from the coils only. And no, that shock sistem isn't good imo for a 4x4. You want suspension travel to be the max, not shorten it by adding a spacer under the spring support plate. That's the same as adding a Daystar puck. Been there..done that. Spring will get so compressed ....It will rattle your bones. Found a guy who has them: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2991483 Take a closer look at the pic of the strut. ![]() Quote: How much lift can I expect from Ironman springs? Vehicles with Independent Suspension are limited to 35mm (1"3/8) lift due to the geometry restraints inherent by this design of suspension Yeah...right. |

Height adjustable "struts" I can think of ten ways to just say no to these springs and their "struts" I'll stick with my OMEs or custom coils |

Are the Bilstein Adjust-A-Struts a different design then? What would make them different? I think at least one member (Digger), maybe more of the KK's, has those. He seems to think they ride good. Those springs do already look almost stacked in that pic. Can't have very much travel with those! Just askin', Tom. |

if I'm thinking about this correctly, height adjustable struts are not preloaded, there is no puck used, there is nothing to limit the spring's geometry. What a adjustable strut does, is you can adjust the lower strut perch. Basically the perch is a separate piece altogether, and a circlip is moved up or down depending on what height you want your rig at. If this IronMan adj strut assembly is designed correctly, and designed specifically for the KJ, then it should be that when raising that lower perch to the top notch, and giving max lift, the spring still should not be compressed at all, or just a teeny bit like a stock spring. But not loaded. This is the ? of how that adj strut system is designed. It could be a very clever and well designed system, or it could be a totally bad design, but the theory of the design is always good -> no pucks, no loading, no spacers, no longer clevises, etc. Basically this design can offer the same on/off road manners, stiffness, etc at either max height or at the lowest stance.... Does anyone have any more knowledge of the adj strut from Ironman? |

Wildman, look at this, a KJ with JBA adjust a struts: http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45268 How does it work? You lower the top spring perch. Pushing the LCA down so travel stays the same. (there is a limit to this, you can't lift it any further then the lenght of the shock, but that would be like a 9" lift.. Very smart and very nice.)KJactionfigure, you need to rethink/ reread what you just posted and take in consideration that the top end of the coilover has no where to go. So if you move the lower spring perch upward...what do you do...yes, compress the spring. If you want to do this right, Ironman, you should give an option to move the topplate (top spring perch) too or sell extended topplates like Daystar. ![]() Get some OME coils and your KJ will sit like this. Just OME coils, no frankenlift, no tricks no nothing. ![]() Ow, btw, this is a CRD. |
