I just threw a code for a bad 02 sensor, it says its bank 1 sensor 2. Isnt that right after the cat? It also says my engine will run choppy and idle funny and be very laggy until it is fixed. My KJ has been laggy for about 6 months, could this have been the problem all along and i'm just now getting a check engine on it?

[bank] suggest which side of the engine is on and the [sensor] is how they are numbered in line away from the motor. im pretty sure the 2nd o2 sensor only makes sure the catalytic converter is doing its job and wont affect the performance of the vehicle. the 1st on the other hand can determine if the motor is running rich/lean, which if goes out could cause drive-ability issues. on my old car i had a straight through exhaust and didnt even have the 2nd o2 sensor hooked up for the 4.5 years that i owned it.
