Howdy all, I'd like to conduct a poll to get an idea of how long I can expect it to take to install a Frankenlift Premium II kit? Those of you that have done this, would you mind giving your best estimates, not including alignment? In addition, for those of you who have installed the Frankenlift Premium II with Al's Upper A-Arms, can you please estimate the extra time needed for the A-Arms, again not including alignment? I will also need to install new lower Ball Joints which means removing the steering knuckles. Any guesses on this? Do you think all of this could get done in one three day weekend (assuming 8:00 Am to dusk)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! |

I can pull and replace a-arms in about 45 minutes now. First time took a little longer. Maybe an hour and 15 mins. Front Struts - 2 hours, 4 for a first timer. Rear Springs - 30 minutes for anyone LBJ - I dunno. Haven't been there yet... All my times are one man job with hand toold only. |

Last lift Chris and I did, ( no air tools used) was less than 30 minutes for the rear including drilling for bumpstops, ( jacking it up, remove tires etc. ) front complete tearout of stock parts 35 minutes, replace with all new 35 minutes, thats back on the ground with tires on. UCA's right side with everything out to install lift about 10 minutes, left side 20 minutes all give or take a few minutes. So a couple of hours. Of course between the both of us we have done several plus tearing our own down to "try" new things Yes you can do it in a weekend, even a day well afternoon. Lower ball joints easy if you are doing it while doing the lift |

If you are completely new to "lifts" or working on suspension components it will take a while. Definitely before dusk if you start at 8am. We started at 4pm because.. well.. we weren't smart. Working in the dark is not as pleasant as daylight. If you're suspension savvy it'll be a breeze. (Although my friend {who pretty much did the install} has changed multiple suspensions, mostly on Eclipses and of that sort, we were still trying to "understand" the in-n-outs of the KJ) I wouldn't count on similar results as Tom when you're doing yours for the first time.. Mine took a while to install. I don't know for sure, but I would say about seven (7) hours. That's for a Frankenlift Premium II & JBA's UCA. If you're doing it by yourself, subtract the time BSing. Driverside UCA is a pain, Passenger side, much easier. Ratchet strap is a great idea for a Frankenlift.. I used this write up, and it was more than helpful. Don't get scared, it is definitely possible to do yourself. When you do a couple more, you will think back and say, "Wow, what was I so worried about". Just take your time and pay attention to the little details, most importantly, HAVE FUN! Good Luck |

Thanks guys for all of your help!! Very helpful indeed! I assume all of you have been taking the extra steps to torque down all bolts per the SM? If so, what size crowfeet did you use on your torque wrench? Thanks |

I would plan on 4-6 hours unless you've done the work before. |

If you do the work yourself its one thing, sitting watching someone is entirely different By the way I had my whole front suspension out last evening took about an hour and 30 minutes by myself and hand tools, from time I started jacking it up until it was back on the tires ready to roll |
