I drive a bone stock 2002 sport 4wd. My wife has given me a 600 dollar upgrade allowance, considering it is bone stock even with the Wranglers, how would you distribute the funds? I thought about a set of 245/70R16 General Grabber AT2's, Sylvania Silverstar bulbs, and maybe some nice 6 or 7 inch driving lights. Anyone have any other ideas, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks! |

I would start shopping for a used lift. (maybe in the For Sale section) and THen go for the 245's. Then Skids and bars. Might be some used skids and bars in there too. Either way, General order to beef up a KJ is: Recovery points, Skids, Rock Rails (Boulder Bars or similar) Lift, Tires. You can stretch that $600 if you do some creative shopping in the various forums and hopefully find some stuff local to you. |

Yes, Recovery points = TOW HOOKS or RECEIVER HITCH (front & Rear) Also make sure you have a Good tow strap (NO HOOKS) and a recovery shackle. It is the 1st thing you should have and most KJ's have them from the factory. (or should) |

When I went to go get my KJ.. That was the first thing I looked for.. Skids and tow hooks... They had 2 on the lot.. I picked the pretty blue one.. Try this place... http://www.moparsupercenter.com/ Click on Liberty, then 2006, then click on Towing.. The front set costs $87.63 and the rear ones costs $69.85 Ben |

Does anyone know which mounting bracket (M bolt or the flat plate) comes with the ones you buy aftermarket? M bolt can be installed without removing bumper and that is what I am going for if I can help it. Thanks |

What do you want to do with your KJ? Bling it or off-road it? For off-road: 1. Used front and rear tow hooks (plenty getting ready to go on sale when Rock Lizard gets his bumpers done) 2. Full armor underneath (Get the Mopars if yo uwant to get more stuff). Look for used ones (owner upgrading to hardcore skids) Front, Tranny, Transfer Case, and Fuel Tank skids) 3. Rock rails (look for used hardcore ones - see skrracing's post in the For Sale section) or at least the stock ones (mine will be for sale soon) 4. Used lift. You can get a lot of good used stuff for under $600 and make it very trail ready. Tires should be a lower priority and should not be included in your wife's $600 allowance since it is a normal wear and tear item that must get replaced. I can't help you in the Bling department if that's your route. |

I never quite understood the idea of blinging a 4x4, so my main goal is to make it trail worthy! Daniel |
