Warn M8000 Solenoid box wiring?

Post subject:  Warn M8000 Solenoid box wiring?
My friend recently bought a new winch so i got his old one. I received the solenoid box today, picking up the actual winch tomorrow, and i am utterly baffled. Can someone please help me out with this? Here are some pictures- what i want to know is where does the negative wire attach?

It came with this negative wire, and i don't know where it attaches?

Sorry for the noob question, but ive never seen the inside of a winch and the wiring diagrams i've seen on the internet dont even show that wire...

I would think one negative goes to winch and one to battery. Same for positive.

I know negative and positive to battery, i just dont know where the negative attaches to the winch...the whole negative cable came unattatched

negative to frame not winch i think

After alot of fiddling with it and moving it around from bilt to bolt, i noticed a bolt on the bottom side of the winch, hooked it up to that and now it works. I dont know if this is where its supposed to go, but hey its working to im gonna leave it be.
