How feasible is this? Would it be opening a whole new level of "this is going to be some serious time/money/braincells lost"? Reason being that with all the parts rolling in to put the lift on in the next few weeks, I was thinking that while it's all apart and before putting everything back together, I'd like to wire brush & primer to prep and then paint the LCAs. Will this make the vehicle nearly undrivable to take to an alignment shop? The 07 KJ gasser has just over 12000 miles (yep 12k, not 120k) on it total right now. I've done a bit of research regarding the LCAs and have found VERY little info. Was thinking to just buy some new ones and paint them before I even get started, but at those prices... forget it. Maybe my search-fu is weak. |

If you mark exactly where the cam bolts come out, put them back in the same place then you can maybe get by until you drive to the alignment shop, if you don't get them back be prepared to drive sideways..... Not sure why you want to go through all of that work just to wire brush and paint, do them on the vehicle |

Well, that is certainly going to be something that I'll look at doing before taking them off. It would actually not be too difficult cause the KJ's underside is actually almost "off the lot clean" for the most part... I'm just really particular about overspray and nooks and crannies... but the trade off for some time covering everything and a couple of not completely painted spots that you will NEVER see may be the lack of a severe headache...

Personally I would not do it, too much work for what could be an easy job. Check out the LOST OHIO section and look at what 03CDKJ did to his today, repainted what you want to. I paint everything under mine, suspension, frame, underbody everything, well except for exhaust and driveshafts, he** with over spray |
