Post subject:  Trans flushed now it leaks?!?!?! Help I am Freaking OUT!!

I flushed my transmission at 113,000 didn't look like it had been done before. The fluid looked pretty clean and there was no debris in the bottom of the pan so I was feeling pretty happy. Well after that i noticed a small drip developing on my garage floor. At first I though that my pan was leaking where the gasket didn't seal up right. Upon closer inspection I realised that it is coming from a "breather?" hole between the trans and the transfer case. I figured it was a seal between the two that had started leaking.

This is what has me nervous. The guy I was talking to said that it is a bushing that is in there and what happens is there is a feed and return to the bushing and more than likely the return is plugged and so it is pressurizing and oil is leaking out. Also said this means ripping into the trans to fix it.

Please does anyone have experience with something like this? Any help or suggestions are more then welcome. I am freaking out right now. I will try to post a picture here so you can see what hole I am talking about.

I would make sure the trany vent isn't cloged up with sand and dirt that I see,all over the under side of your jeep !!! I had a buddies tranfercase vent tube plugged and the rear seal on the tail shaft kept poping out fluid due to the pressure inside of the case when it got hot !!!

So there is a seal and just not a bushing? If i check it and it is plugged then do i need to pop the transfer case off and reseat the seal?

No bushing, has a bearing though and then a seal. Not hard to replace at all, just pull the t-case and chnage the seal, might as well replace the t-case input seal while your at it.

Trans output seal, and if you are going to, the Transfer case input seal. Auto stores should have them.

Found out today that the seal at the back of the trans is called the Adapter Housing Seal. Thanks for everyone's help on this one!
