So my front driveshaft is shot. Chrysler has them for $450 and on over a month long back order. So im lookin around for places to get a new driveshaft and the obvious is of course Tom Woods.. but Ive read a few people having problems with theyre Tom Woods shafts on theyre liberties... so im kinda iffy on that...then i found this website http://www.alldrivelines.com/index.html and they look a lil too good to be true. My experience owning my liberty has tought me that nobody makes parts for us.. and when you look at this site they appear to specialize in foreign driveshafts and jeep liberty driveshafts.. kinda a wierd pairing. Has anyone heard of or dealt with this company??????

I got mine from alldrivelines and they're great. I did have to grind the corner off of the shifter bracket to make a little clearance. Price was great and it replaces those cv joints with spicer u-joints.

If you go with them, make sure you put some lockwashers on the bolts.

Can you post a pic of the driveshaft? Does it have the double-cardan style joint?

I've had a Tom Woods front driveshaft for years now on my 2002 Liberty and have had zero problems. You do understand that a new driveshaft with u-joints comes more frequent service requirements (greasing).

Guys.. my front driveshaft has NO boot on the t-case side. It does have a boot on the diff. side.. but nothing at all on the t-case side.

Is there supposed to be a boot there? Shaft feels tight and seems to give me zero trouble. I'm just wondering.

Also, how the heck do you unbolt the front shaft? Does it slide out or what?

Sorry CatCrd, haven't been online for several days. It's a single cardon style u-joint on both ends. I don't have a pic but here's there website with a pic towards the bottom of the page.

Let me guess you only get vibration over 70mph. I have had one like this made and it sucked. I also had a tom woods made and it really sucks. Actually it sucks so bad that it is sitting on the shelf in my shop because i'm tired of the vibrations. Oh yeah and I've only sent it back twice in the year that i've owned it. Get the stock replacement you'll thank me in the long run. Oh yeah did I mention that tom woods does not pay return shipping for their garbage. I have a grand total of $675 into the double cardon paper weight on my shelf.

@stumpjumper

I get no vibration at all, but the fastest I ever really go is 85, usually cruise freeway at 75. I'm not sure if your reply was to me though. My post is quoted but the driveshaft I bought isn't tom woods or double cardon.

the one that I had made like that was horrible. Guess there must be more variables there somewhere.

I'm thinking that my front DS is going out soon too. I get vibration past 50 MPH and it's pretty rough at 70 MPH in the steering wheel.

So did we ever come to a consensus about which front DS is the best one to get??

any OEM replacement is the best option. I know there are people out there that say a custom one is the way but from experience not all libertys are created equal and not all libertys can run a custom shaft without vibration.

So if I remove the 6 bolts on one end, I can disconnect the shaft there and then slide both ends out of the yokes?

Also, can I drive around without a front driveshaft without hurting anything on the KJ?

I would like to remove my front shaft and see if that is truly where my vibes are coming from.
