Post subject:  Rockfather deluxe II for cheap is it worth it?

I came across a rockfather deluxe ii kit for around 400 is it worth it? I would like to get about 3.5 to 4 inches of lift in the end but I'm on a tighter budget right now. So my question would I be better buying the kit or can anyone piece together something better for about the same price. I really don't mind having to take my time piecing something together but I need tires and don't want to have to buy them twice thanks I'm a new member and you guys have been a lot of help I've never had to join lol all my questions were already asked and solved thanks rob

Like dirty said save your money, I went through the same issue with a skyjacker lift and had to replace it for a frankenlift, the only true liberty lift that lasts.I'm sure someone else with technical aspects will chime in shortly.

Actually and I know I have posted this before several times
The Rockfather II uses OME front springs and shocks.

But then they use their OTT type of top spacer and their own brand of rear springs and shocks.
I have tried several times to get their rear spring rate but it must be a highly guarded secret kept in the same place as the Kentucky Fried Chicken herbs and spices.

Personally I would go another direction away from RRO :2cents:

But is it worth it for 400? Could i piece together something better for around 500? If so what?

Cheapest right now is
4 springs from JeepinbyAl
4 Bilstein shocks from shockwarehouse
total 650 or so
Is it worth the extra
well not knowing what you are getting for the rear springs and shocks I think it is.
If they are anything like Rusty's kit then you'll need to replace them within 9 months to a year anyways.
But its your choice in the end
All we can do is preach the good word
what you choose to do after you leave the church is up to you :-)r

Plus if its used then do you know how many miles are on it for sure and how its been treated ?

Im assuming the bilstiens are the replacements for the ranchos no longer offered? $650 is ALOT better then I was thinking for the 2.5in lift. I told the wife what I want to do will range from 1-1.5k and she seemed partly ok with it....which scares me. :5SHOTS: Does that 650 include HD springs and shocks? If so I could do slot rotors, UCAs, springs, shocks/struts and other misc for the lower end of my range easy. Thats would make the wifey happy and as all us married men will know a happy wife makes for a happy life (jarhead I think said this??).

650 just does 4 springs/ 4 shocks
"should" go ahead and do front bumpstops at 45 or so, and rear ( hockey pucks are like 4 bucks maybe ) That would give you about 2.25 to 2.5 inches of lift easy enough
I just looked up everything the other night for someone who is sitting at about stock height ( with a Rustys spring Lift)

Alright first of all what is the spring rate on the OME. Are they heavy Springs the light what? Also if you can find a spring rate for Rev Mudd on those rears if you have access to them so he can know the secret also. I mean the OMEs are almost worth that 400 by themselves and there top plates are worth $189. I would buy it use the OMEs and top plates and then get something else for the rear.

rates on rear coils in progression from least to most

OME948 , JBA25(skyjacker), BDS

with about a 35lb spread and all 3 end up about 2" w/o steel

my guess, and it's just a guess, the RF2 rear coils are somewhere in that 35lb spread as well

I don't know why they'ed guard their rate.. if i was their customer and asked and they were like we ain't tellin you, i'd be like well you ain't gettin my money either

the only issues with getting rates from OME, skyjacker/jba or bds in terms of coil rates.. is often the person on the phone doesn't know.. and sometimes doesn't know who to ask.. but when ya find the right person they don't exactly treat it like special sauce

I'm honestly not sure of the spring rate or if they are medium or heavy duty the guy that has them doesnt know or remember.. Ohh well I think it will work for what I want for the time being.. Time and aggressive use may prove me wrong, however I've never even gone off roading in a full size vehicle.. I dont want to spend thousands only to find I dont like it, however I dont want be in a position that i dont have enough to enjoy it as well..

ome quality springs are a big upgrade in terms of on road performance as well, handling, ride quality etc

so even if you don't care for the offroading

it's a worthy investment ON road

btw:

judging by the picture coyote found via a craigslist add for a RF lift here in chicago, the rear shocks are probably either pro-comp or skyjacker

they're the only two I'm aware of that ship with white cans and bushings that you have to install yourself

most likely pro-comp if they don't come with boots or decals, which neither appeared to be included via the craigslist photo

I must be one of the few, but I have a Rockfather II and havent had any problems. OME stuff speaks for itself. The rear springs that RRO sells are made by Deaver.

you get what you pay for. most people advise against anything but ome or jba and there is a reason for it.

Not a bad lift if you don't plan on using it offroad to much, I bought it before i did my Frankenlift and it sagged in about 15 months.

I would save and piece together an OME or get the Frankenlift.
