I just clicked the button (*GULP*) and ordered two 790 springs, two Bilstein struts, and two spacer plates to set up the front of my KJ. $406 just to do the front end. Ouch. And I've still got to do the labor! Hopefully, this stuff will make my Jeep ride better than a Cadillac.

Can't wait until it shows up though! Hopefully Jeepin' by Al ships things pretty quick! And, hopefully I won't find out once I have the front end apart that I need something I don't have. You can re-use the factory isolators and top strut plates, right?

It will ride like a Jeep,if you want a caddy ride buy a caddy.$400 for the front alone is down right cheap.

Not really, when for that much you can do front and rear on any other Jeep. My YJ got new Emu springs front and rear with new shocks front and rear for that kind of money. Oh well... I think I'll like it...just dreading have to take the front end apart again.

that is down right cheap! a good lift for a TJ (long arm) kit would be 3000-4000 bucks!!! so 400 for the front and a few hundred for the rear is a joke haha.

Do yourself a favor and let a shop compress the springs. Would not recommend the Vatozone,Advance loaners.

AH come on...... Its not that bad, just don't have the spring pointed anywhere near yourself... Keep your fingers on the outside of the compressors and you'll be fine.

We have a 20 ton shop press that makes child's play of compressing springs. I just hate having to take all that crap underhood apart to change the assys. out.

Looks like my stuff should arrive Tuesday. Woohoo!

Most likely being drop shipped direct from an ARB warehouse. I don't think JBA actually keeps stock on the OME stuff.

Just from holding them I can tell that these puppies are going to be STIFF. Here's hoping they don't break the 20-ton shop press!

Got the front suspension done tonight.

Former setup: stock CRD springs, stock struts, Daystar spacers, 7 conduit washers per side.. sat at about 21" from center of hub to fender.

New setup: Emu 790s, Bilstein struts, stock isolators... sitting at 22" from center of hub to fender.

I ordered a set of top plate spacers from JBA, but ended up not using them once I saw what the upper ball joints looked like with them on. Will these settle in with time?? I didn't expect so much from the Emus...

Problems we ran into:

On one of the Bilsteins, the supplied collar would not slide down over the body of the strut. We had to force it on with the shop press. Also, with the supplied boots on the struts, there was no way to hold the shaft of the piston to keep it from spinning while we tightened up the top nut. The job was a PITA but hopefully it was worth it.

Thanks to Mudd and everybody else who recommended the 790s for the CRD. I was worried they'd be too stiff but they seem to be great so far. :JEEPIN: Now I just gotta' save up for the 948s for the rear.

Speaking of which... at 22" in the front, how many extra isolators am I going to need in the rear to level this puppy out with the 948s??

Post subject:  Re: Just pulled the trigger....

Depends on how many upper iso's
if you want to be level or slight stock rake
I would do one if you are at 22 now in the front, it will settle some but not much
should be pretty close to level

Glad you got it all together
and like it

Man these 790s are awesome. They could almost stand to be a tad stiffer. They don't ride harsh at all. I really like them.

When I order the 948s, I'll get a pair of extra isolators. Hopefully it'll sit nice and level.
