Hi all,
I've a 2006 Liberty, 3.7L V6 w/ 6-spd manual. Purchased used 2009/01/22 @49,680 miles.
Drivetrain repair history since purchase:
2009/06/22: Replaced rear driveshaft
Replaced front axle pinion bearing/seal
2010/07/19: Replaced front driveshaft
2010/10/26: Replaced axle shaft (not specified)

Repairs done by local dealer. I'm (already) starting to hear something that sounds like the noise it made before the first repair, a dull "baseball cards in bike tire spokes" kind of noise. My emergency break on the drivers side might be locked up too... seemed to be that way when I got it back from dealer. I'm hoping to tear it down this weekend.

Anybody have an idea what I'm up against here? I've never owned a vehicle that required this much repair.

Regards,
Gren

If the sound is coming from the front it could be a hub bearing going bad. The baseball card in the spokes sound is what I heard when mine went. Followed in less than 250 miles by the other side.

And this is with normal street driving, no off-road. If this level of constant repair work is what owning a Jeep is about, I don't think I can afford to keep it.

Have you checked for baseball cards?

I've heard the "baseball cards in spokes" noise twice with Jeeps... once it was bad U-joint that needed replacement, and recently it was the rear parking brake shoes disintegrated inside the drum. As soon as I pulled the drum, the parking brake crumbled into dust on the ground.
