Post subject:  Shopping For Rear Detroit Truetrac

After some reading of various posts here i decided that the best "affordable" locker would be the DTT and then i did some more research and again decided that i will only lock rear diff as the front is very rarely needed and a winch would be a better investment later on.
so back to the Topic i found the DTT for the 8.25" for 555$ in this link http://www.justdifferentials.com/index. ... cts_id=881
So is that a good price for it?? All other sites have it for like 650$
Thanks and please if anyone knows where i could find it cheaper or even preowned let me know as i still have a massive shipping cost ahead as well

But for only a little over 200 more you could have a ARB!
Something to think about. Course need a compressor or CO2, but still......

you'r right of course but the difference would be quite a bit with the compressor and all :banghead:
plus i kinda like the sound of an "automatic locker" even if its a bit more of a hastle since ill have to be extra carefull in turns and so, on the road

but its the next best thing anyway right??

The DTT is not a locker,it is a LSD but the best one on the market and can be "fooled" into locking with a little e-brake action for the rear.It will be transparent on ice/snow as it is a LSD and not a locker.

Well i have no problem with snow as i live in Cairo but what i want it for mainly is offroading (soft sand and dunes) it should give me better traction right??
thanks

absolutely

only time i ever had any issue with a DTT locking and staying locked was when one wheel was entirely off the ground

with sand, there's always some sort of variance of resistance, and generally you don't spend much time freewheeling with your foot off the gas, so generally it would lock and stay locked
