I am trying to make heads and tails of sites and prices for a lift for my 06. Can someone help lay out a lift for my KJ? I would love to spend as little as I can, but also understand the spacer lifts seem to be the wrong direction. It's going to be a while, unless I sell my 73 VW Bug....and i don't want to right now, before i can lift the Jeep so I am just planning ahead i guess Thanks! |

front shocks bilstein part number F4-BE5-D916-H0 rear shocks bilstein part number F4-BE5-6458-H7 front springs ome 927 rear springs ome 948 OME lift is the norm. this is a reasonable setup and run you about $750. |

A spring lift is by far the best but a spacer is not necessarily bad, as long as it is not an OTT like Rocky Roads. Depends on your budget, and uses. An 06 is running up on 5 years since it rolled off the assembly line so your stock springs are SAGGING!!! If you install a spacer lift (Daystar for @ $155 is my recommendation if you go this route), you'll gain 2.5" over current ride height, but that may only equal 1-1.5" of actually lift. If you do a full spring lift, OME is definitely the best that you'll find out there, and Tommudd will chime in shortly of where you can piece one together for @ $650 IIRC. You'll probably net about 3.5"-4" over how high your KJ currently sits on old springs, and the ride will be greatly improved. IMO if you jus want a small amount of lift for looks, or to be able to hit forest roads for hunting/fishing/camping and your happy with the factory ride, save the cash and buy some daystar spacers, otherwise full spring lift. |

I will never do hardcore mudding, moab, trail riding. Most for looks, hitting the beach, and minor trails and camping....might do the cheap rote for a few years, and do the full spring after that. I read about spring failure with a spacer lift? also what shock would be a good budget set? |

BUT...................................I know everyone here I go ....again I always have to laugh when I read someone say they want to go a cheaper route due to never hardly going off road. So in other words a crappy sagging ride is OK on the street but if you would be going off road then you want a better ride? Doing a full spring lift with new shocks all around provides you with a huge difference in ride, handling and overall better performance than stock. Its a upgrade just like you upgrade to better tires etc. Everyone almost( 99.789%) who has ever had a spacer lift then went to a full spring lift has done the face slap and said I wished I would of done it sooner. Going off road is not the only reason to lift your ride, mines way smoother than any stock KJ going down the road what Dirty said above is the parts numbers you want. Most everyone has about the same price on springs, shocks just shop around, shockwarehouse is one place I have bought a few sets through and they provide great service. remember if you have over 30,000 miles its time to replace anyways, the stock springs s____ canal water And just say No to Rustys, RRO , and all the others

I paid $550ish for my BDS 2"lift which is all 4 coils and rear shocks all under a lifetime warranty. The only thing I added during the install was rancho front SHOCKS(I learned from Rev Mudd). When I get my JBA 4.5 Arms for xmas I will add a 3 ring clevis up front and 2 extra iso's per side in the rear. |

Is BDS as good as, or close enough, the others? I am ok doing a spring lift, just will be longer.... |

The front heavy duty OMEs are 400 lb rating ( stock 300-325 depending on model) The BDS are about 425 lb. rears are about the same rating from OME or BDS. But then you can get all 4 springs (OME) for about 280-290, rear shocks 140-150, and in my adding machine thats cheaper than the BDS. Most everyone uses the OMEs including AllJs who uses them in their Frankenlifts, even RRO uses the OME fronts although they use their own rear springs and shocks |
