So in the process of removing my skids to facilitate a bunch of other work I managed break loose one of the nutzerts that holds the t-case skid. The bolt is still inside of it and it spins in the frame.

How can I get this thing out to install a new one? To be clear, I'm talking about the outboard nutzerts, not the ones in the crossmember, as those went away when I installed my All-J tranny skid 6 years ago.

Also, anyone (preferably local, I need to get this all done before I drive cross country on the 18th) have an extra nutzert they'd be willing to part with? I already have the tool, just need the nutzert itself.

Thanks.

I just sawzaw'd the bolt so that I could get the skid the rest of the way off, and hammered the other half of the bolt to get the nutzert to pop up into the frame and let it slide around in there until it fell out.

I did something similar and ended up using some thin-jawed vice grips to hold onto the flange while backing out the bolt. Once the bolt is out, the riv-nut (as the industry calls them) can be ripped out with a good pair of pliers, some elbow grease, and 5 minutes. They're pretty soft and bendy without the bolt in them.

I grind them out. Carefully grind down the bolt and edges of the rivnut. Then push the rivnut through. I just finished doing this on the TJs rocker.

I had this same problem a week ago. Talked to a buddy of mine that works at a Jeep dealership here in DC. He said to remove the other three bolts stick a large pry bar between the skid and the frame (as close as possible to the bolt) with one hand and apply downward pressure on the skid. With the other hand use a ratchet or impact gun to remove the bolt..

Doing the above he removed the bolt in less than 2 mins and was able to reuse the bolt.
