Post subject:  What do I need? Basic lift to fit 245/70/R17.

Might start the slow process of buying my lift piece by piece soon and just wanted to figure out exactly what I need.

Front Springs (From what I find, 927 is what I want for stock bumper, correct?)
Back springs (What number back springs do I need?)
Shocks all around (Any suggestions? Or does everyone agree on bilsteins?)
Bumpstops?
Would I need wheel spacers? (Using stock 17 inch wheels)

Also, I plan on just lifting it just enough to clear 245/70/R17 and no higher. I don't offroad (unless you consider snow drifts offroading  ) So would I need anything besides what I listed? Do I need any top plates for the front or anything? Any input would be much appreciated! 8)

927's front and 948's rear for OME and they'll be fine from stock up to the weight of steel bumpers

since the RSX rancho series is kaput, bilsteins are probably the better choice short of going to Fox

4 hockey pucks, a bolt , 2 washers and a nylon lock nut for the rear bumpstops , 90 degree drill and bolt them to the lower spring perch

front, terra flex extended bumpstops, or stock, JL will be over shortly to say bumpstops are for hooha's

a couple conduit nuts for the front clevis incase you need to level it out in the front

2 extra upper iso's per side for the rear incase you need to level it there

I think the rim issue is answered already in the tire section, should have plenty of fitment information there for that aspect

the front shocks are Stock KJ shocks, the rear, you'll want Dodge Durango 4WD shocks

So the 2 extra upper iso's for rear would be only if I need to level it afterwards? Along with the clevis too right? If I can swing it, I really want to avoid stacking iso's or use a clevis lift. Without these, would I still be able to fit the tire size that I want?

Hey, I'm still reading about everything . I just don't want excess hardware installed that I don't really need. If that makes any sense.

Plus extra iso's means extra money spent.

So how does this look then?

JBA-OME927
OME Spring for front strut

JBA-OME948
OME Spring for Rear

JBA-F4-BE5-D916-H0
BILSTEIN - Heavy Duty Front

JBA-F4-BE5-6458-H7
BILSTEIN - Heavy Duty 2.5" Lift Rear

JBA-TER1903200
TeraFlex Bump Stop

Total comes out to about $421.69. All taken from www.jeepinbyal.com

So other than that, maybe some conduit nuts and 2 extra iso's? Anyplace specific to get the iso's?

Thanks!

Ok, after I updated everything with the correct amount (instead of 1 coil spring and 1 shock per front and back :-)r ) looks like the total would be $843.74.

Well, guess I'll have to start ordering piece by piece. :?

Thanks for the all the help!

have you tried looking at prices at the other places ? Can save a little coin that way
I buy a lot from
www.justsuspension.com
www.autopartswarehouse.com
some use www.rockauto.com
also
woodysauto
for instance on a recent shock purchase
out of the above $130 was the highest price ( autoparts warehouse) and $87 was the lowest ( justsuspension) on the shocks I was pricing. The 43 bucks looks real good in my pocket

I was just getting a rough estimate to how much the damages will be, but I'll definitely look into those sites. Thanks a lot!

Well on this forum it seems like you get flogged for recommending anything but OME; however, there are some very good options out there. The BDS lift is a good alternative and is only 475 dollars including rear shocks. If you are set on OME, then remember buying things separate means shipping costs several times which adds to the price. When all is said and done you can save the butt pain of buying a bunch of stuff separate and just buy a frankenlift for the same price ( taking shipment fees into account).

Tell me more about this BDS lift please. I don't have time to look it up at the moment. (Working :? )

Thanks!

BDS keeps coming up as a cheap alternative
well cheaper is right , or some think
BUT
you will need to add front shocks to it as they do not offer any with their kit
SO
BDS kit for 495 or whatever
plus front shocks and you are right back in the same neighborhood really

for instance 4 OME springs from JeepinByAl 80 each =320
2 rear Bilstein shocks ( only looked at one place I deal with) 70 each Xs 2 = 140
320
140
=460

and no we don't flog for other suggestions
but what works good is the bottom line

Ok, I'll have to shop around for the cheapest prices.

Question though, if I do end up getting the BDS kit(if cheaper, etc.) how is the spring rates on the springs? Are they similar to OME or will they sag out over time?

Thanks!

BDS will not be cheaper really trust me
Spring rate for the front springs is suppose to be 35 lbs heavier than the OME 927s though

Nah, I can manage without mortgaging my wife.

On serious note, with this little lift I won't need JBA upper control arms right?
