I noticed when I have it in 4hi and shift from Reverse to Drive the front dif moves up and down and when it goes to the top or bottom it makes a...clank noise. Has anyone else see this o had this before? I am wondering if something came loose or worse, something is going bad, lol. As for how I know, I had my wife get in, I crawled under and checked it out while she shifted. Yes I am brave...er...stupid...er...yeah, lol. The front dif seems to move a good 1/2" up and down when shifting between D and R.

It did not do this before I swapped out the CV joint. Was it the oil that was on the cover in between the drive shaft and front dif?

Check all your rubber mounts on the diff. I noticed that on mine just before I tore it down for "the project". I took a long pry bar and jockeyed around different spots to find the movement. Once I had it all down I saw that all the rubber mounting bushings were just absolutely shot! Motor mount rubbers were about done for too. Another year it'll be 10 years old and that rubber does deteriorate over time. Changing the rubber mounts on the diff really shouldn't be too hard if you do them one at a time. I believe they will have to be pressed in and out if you just do the bushings, or you can just change the whole bracket with the rubber in it. Even dropping the whole diff out to swap them can be done over a weekend and will probably be easier to do it, if you can go that way.
