will the front axle assy with brackets out of a 2005 lib fit in to a 2003 lib? or did cradle/axle mount brackets change that year with the new front end redesign in 2005?

The front diff will swap no problem,the passenger side diff mount is different though and will not swap.

so i should just have to buy a older pass mount and the front end should be fine?
reason im asking is i have a chance to buy a 2005 4x4 lib with a blown motor and was wanting to swap the parts to my 2003 2x4 lib

Better off swapping your good engine into the 4wd.Will be worth more when you decide to sell it.A converted 2wd to 4wd will not be worth anything.

the 2005 4x4 already has had the doors and front fenders pulled off and sold and is being sold for only $400 with 80k miles for the whole jeep with bill of sale and no title so no chance of motor swap. so it sounds like ill need a older style pass side bracket and im hoping that drive shaft lengths will be the same for the years?

Most likely not getting that lucky as yours and the '05 may have different transmissions,the rear will not work as the rear diffs use different pinion yokes/flanges from '03 to '05.It's alot of work and you will need to change the output shaft on your trans and then there is the programming needed which will be pretty hard to get done.

Ive already goten the 2005's vin and per chrylser dealer connect it says to have the 42rle and mine also has a 42rle so i was just going to swap the whole trans and tcase assy together. and the only electrical on the tcase is just the 4x4 lamp switch correct so no programming would be needed i just wouldn't have the part time light on the dash when 4x4 is enguaged. hadnt thought of rear pinion yoke size diffrences guess a yoke swap or rear axle swap would be fine with all the parts? and both the 05 and my 03 have 3.73gears per vin
