Post subject:  T-Case Issue

I went out in the snow today and got stuck pretty good I had to rock myself off the rock my rear end was sitting on, (2 front tires on the ground and 1 rear barely making contact.) and now when I'm running along the trail in 4-Lo the T-Case makes a loud Clunk and then I'm suddenly in 2-LO. If I stop and put the T-Case back in neutral then back to 4-Lo it will re-engage the front shaft. It only does it in Lo it is normal in 4-Part Time and 4-Full Time. Anyone have an Idea what I broke?

...well...that is not normal, at least I have never had that happen to me. I would crawl under and check to make sure you don't have something wedged in around the T-case. Otherwise...honestly I am not too sure. I am curious though.

I may have Snow/Ice on the linkages. I just was talking to another guy with a Lifted Libby in my area and his started doing the same thing a few weeks back still hasn't had his diagnosed. He was in a similar situation too me with the rear end hung up when his broke.

usually when they pop out like that they end up in Neutral instead of 2lo, you may have some ice, frost, salt crud on your linkage like the feller said

before letting it do that too many more times i'd get under there, wash the linkage down good, dry it off and spray it down with wd40, not as a lube but just a little help to keep water/salt crud from sticking to it, pam or white lith will work too but grease tends to catch all sorts of grit and makes the problem worse

I would say it is a linkage adjustment issue also. Some people pay teraflex good money for their 2x lo kit. Maybe the ball detent is stuck? I would definitely also drain and change the fluid in the TC to check for metal flakes and parts.

Yeah I washed it all down today and it is still doing the same thing. I'm going to change the fluid tomorrow night, and check for metal. Someone else said I may have stretched the chain but I would figure it would also pop out in 4-Full Time ad 4 Part Time and it doesn't. I am going into 2 Lo when it clunks as well we tried it on jack stands in the driveway (I know not safe but hey what do you do?). When I get it figured out I'll let you guys know.

Sounds like you broke something in the t-case and in 4low your producing enough torque to kill the coupling driving the front driveshaft where as in 4hi you are not.

I'm not sure what was happening Changed the fluid it looked normal for 10,000KM on it pretty much new. I want to open it up and take a look if anything is broke so I ordered a new Chain from a local transmission shop. if its broke I'll know then but it seems normal now.
