Wanting to lift the wifes KJ, it's an 03 limited. Bad thing is it came with 17" rims. Tires are expensive for this buggy. Anyway, wanted to see if any of you have looked at the KJ lift by Rockkrusher.

No Good. Do a search on here and you will see the bad things that happened to others that used their IFS lift.

the superlift? it is posted all over but I called to verify...I honestly don't know if it will work on a CRD but from the way they talked about the kit-I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I like the looks of the Frankenlift, but it's just way overpriced. (of course so's the RockKrawler stuff) I can't see the value in it. Not to step on any toes, or offend, maybe I just don't know what I'm lookin at. :?:
She will be doing some trail riding, not tough stuff, and just want's to run a little bigger, and more agressive tire.
Thanks for the advice folks. :)

the other full lift or even a spacer you could try is rusty's kit, i have it and its great! no problems yet! rusty's offroad is a nice company to deal with as well.....the only reason the frankenlift is pricey is because it is the best lift out there for the KJ

Alright...heres my 0.02 cents....I agree with you man...Frankenlift is overpriced....but you pay for performance....I can't afford that stuff....and I didn't want strictly spacers....so I ordered (and am still WAITING) for the Rocky Road Outfitters RockFather 1 lift....it combines both spring and spacer lift...it looks like a great kit, and guys in my area are all saying its an excellent choice.....about $400...if you would like a spacer lift....which is much cheaper and still offers plenty of tire clearance and performs excellent I'd go with the Rocky Road Outfitters Combo Lift...it does have that Over The Top spacer in it....but the instability of OTT is backed up and reinforced by internal spacers....a very good spacer lift for $219 ( with this I would also recommend getting shocks from them, about $80 for two with the purchase of the lift ) without them you'll top out your existing = Not good.

Check out www.rocky-road.com they are both good kits, and I've been researching best "bang for you buck" on this stuff for a few months before I made my final decision. Good luck to ya..keep us updated.

I would make sure to ask them if you will get upper balljoint contact with their lift kit, no matter who you get it from.

That is the problem that I have now. I would like to stay at 2"-2.5" lift but not have the contact that I have now.

I have heard that the Rustys spring kit & Daystar kit are the only ones that don't have any contact. I thought about getting Al's upper a-arms to fix the problem, but would like a better lift insted.

I have the Rustys OTT style lift. I got it so I wouldn't have to take the struts in to a shop, but now I wish I had just gotten the spring kit.

I run the rusty's spacer lift which is identical to the RRO OTT lift. IT DOES GIVE UPPER BALL JOINT CONTACT!!!! If the rig sees mostly highway use-these kits wont kill the struts nearly as quick as others say...

PS: I paid $169 shipped for mine...

Don't forget ol' Skyjacker. They make a 2.5" coil over that I love and have no probs with. I know the Franken is the most popular, but I still do not see why everyone thinks it is the best...the most popular thing is not always the best, however it is hard to argue with all the positive feedback the Franken gets :D

There are two reasons the Frankenlift kicks butt. It is taller than anything else currently available. You'll actually net closer to 3.5" on 2003+ KJs. The 2.5" figure applies to 2002 "pre-lowered" rigs. And it flexes better than anything on the market. Period. This of course does not take into account the 7" RK lift which doesn't actually function properly unless sitting still in your driveway.

Some people don't need the extra offroad capabilities. Some do. You'll always end up paying more for the best though.

Edit: Reason #3? The struts and springs come PRE-ASSEMBLED so it is a nice easy install without the hassles of spring compressors and trips to NAPA. Can't beat that.
