I'm considering purchasing a set of PIAA 510s to fill the holes in my '05 Rene's ARB. Anybody have any insight as to the best suited PIAA 510 model for enhancing far field lighting? Standard 510, SMR or ATP? I already have the factory Hellas on the bumper to light up ditches and the headlights w/Nighthawk Platinmus do a good job of lighting up ahead. Looking forward to the replies.

Just an aside here but does anyone know of another quality light that will fit in the 4" hole in the bumper? I'm open to all options. Just favoured the PIAAs because I can get them for $245 locally, which around here is a really good deal. Most places want over $300 for them.

Don't get the SMR driving lights.... the beam is very focused and shines very far and is often mistaken for Hi beams.
Go for the SMR Fog or the ATP..

Thanks for the input on the SMRs.

That's a pretty nice price.... but considering that the $ CDN and $ US are pretty much equal I'll buy here. After duty, brokerage fees and shipping they'll be less expensive if I source locally.

ATP i have yet to read a bad review on them and i am looking at a set myself and they dont have a highly concentrated beams but are still very wide and have a very good reach.

I doubt they will fit but Lightforce lighets are amazing. Just put them above the bumper.

Looking at exact same lights but for on bumper mounting as my stock 02 fogs are going into the 02-04 ARB bumper housing holes.
Was stuck on models and whether to go with a fog, driving or all-terrain pattern... and wanted full kit w. wiring, relay & switch.

Am finding all of them on EBAY shipped to Canada about $200-$220... all shipped USPS so no brokerage but Canada Post - CBSA will hit us with GST/PST/HST.

example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIAA-510 ... 43a068a038

For getting out of trails when running late or hunting the ATP seems like a good fit, especially seeing as factory fogs are pretty good and might put CT sale Nighthawks if they ever burn out - are your Renny stock fogs a lensed Hella with the original bulbs?

Does the place you priced them ship in Canada or just a local shop.. lucky Albertans less tax too I guess...

(another upside to having more oil than Saudi Arabia I guess)

Place in Edmonton. I can drive there and get them. I'd rather support a local business than some EBay vendor. The locals keep us employed and building a relationship with a local vendor usually pays pays huge dividends when you need it.

I have the Hellas on the bumper with Silverstar Ultra 55w H3s. They're plenty bright. I'm just looking for a good lamp to fill the holes in the bumper. I had bought some Ebay lights and stuck them in there but they cracked and are pretty much a PITA to change a bulb in and a total waste of my money. Hindsight is usually 20/20. I should have bought the PIAAs the first time 'round.

JBs - good link! Free shipping and only 5% AB taxes! They seem to have pretty well all the PIAA and KC stuff.

...that and Magnaflow mufflers too. Maybe wait for a sale this spring, they have a pretty huge flyer and discount stuff on ebay.

Thx again!

Hella Rallye 3000 Compacts work/Look amazing on the front of a KJ.

Even before I converted them to HID.

Also the 4" Hella/Optilux lights Tomm is referring to if they are the HID ones are sold as individuals not as a pair (and yes are still 100$ each roughly). Several people I know have them they are amazing lights but have a slow start up time due to built in Mini-Ballasts. Maybe hey wasn't referring to these, if not sorry Tomm.

the opti 4's I was taking about are actually the angel eye optilux. They're pretty cheap and you don't have to use the led ring if you don't want they're on a separate harness

the harness they came with was pretty nice, came with a fused relay, battery connectors, a switch (which I didn't use, I used a different switch) and the 2 lights

I think they only come in driving light beam pattern though, I toed mine down and out which lights up the road about like my stock fogs used to, and they're 55w with heavy glass lens

they were pretty much on the entire 2600 mile trip I just took and got pounded by snow and ice and I didn't have any problems out of them so I don't see them having cracking issues

I do wish I had been able to aim them a little better, I had to do some tricky mounting to get them pointed how i wanted with the TR bumper, they're actually mounted to the chassis behind the bumper instead of the post rail in the bumper

post rails on my bumper were too long so I had to bend them down to mount it and haven't trimmed them yet so they were a long shot to get a mount to

they turned out pretty good though, especially for the cheap price
