JBA CVs

So can somebody explain to me what the trick is with the JBA CVs that are "shaved down 3/8 inch on the face of the inner joint" and why this is best for high drive angles? How does this work? Are they worth the 4X higher cost?

I'm still wondering why shaving them down makes them OK for high angles. :?:

They shave the ends off where it was marked in the photos, when angled it will not hit there, but there are downsides to it as well since part of that area is where the boot attaches so not as much to hold it on

the CV is housed inside a "socket"

the "mounting point" of the joint doesn't change, but the length of the "socket" does

for an easy demonstration of how it allows the cv shaft to droop farther without contacting, make a socket shape with your index finger and thumb where the width of the socket is about 1 1/2 - 2" wide

start with the cap touching your hand (the imaginary center of the socket), and the pen resting on your thumb, then track the pen out of the socket and keep the cap of the pen in the center

it's a overly drastic representation, with the cap against your hand, the pen (or CV) can Droop about 10 degrees at 1/2 way 45 degrees and near the end almost 90

same principal with cutting or cv's.. except we trim off part of the lip.. or the ends of your fingers.. but I figured that would be a bad experiment for ya ..
