So, my transfer case is pretty much shot. No 4-Lo for sure and as best as I can tell, no 4-Hi either. I've got the NV242 SELEC-TRAC. What options are available to replace this other than just another of the same? I know I can get the Command-Trac as well (NV231?), but are there any aftermarket options? I need to get this done in the next 45 days or so as I am shipping out to a new location courtesy of my rich Uncle and I will not have a place to conduct such in-depth repairs. Any help is appreciated... |

That's about it.. I think the other formidable option would require driveshaft adaptations look up troy's build, he's using an AtlasII i think it was It could be something relatively cheap, broken linkage, etc, so even if you opt to just get a new/rebuilt one keep your old one as it can probably be fixed and resold |

Well, I just took a look at the Daimler-Chrysler Service Manual. Its not too terribly complex a box. If you can be without wheels for a couple of days, you might consider pulling it out and popping it open to see what's going on in there. Otherwise, get one from a wrecking yard man! There are zillions of Liberty's out there that almost never got put into 4 wheel drive. Many must have met an untimely demise. |
