I am planning on putting a lift on my '02 limited. It is a prelowered (1" higher than most), so is a clevis lift going to help me at all?
will this make the overall lift hight after I get a lift kit installed or do I need to keep the 1/2" gain from the clevis into account when lifting it?

I've head that anything over 2.5" is not good for the CV angles, so what is the highest lift/clevis lift combo that I could do?

If youre going with a full spring lift kit, your jeep being pre-lowered will not change a thing. If you get spacers, the jeep will be 1in higher than lowered jeep with spacers.

A clevis lift will help any jeep, if you do a clevis lift there is no way it cant lift the jeep.

all the clevis does is level it out, unless you like the raked look, realy no advantage other than that

I have been reading a lot of discussion about the clevis lift and prelowered kjs what does the clevis lift consist of and who sells them. and what is the deal with pre lowered. I have a 02 renegade manufacture date of 3-02. I am going to order the rockfather I lift from rockyroad offroad. what would the benefit be with a clevis.

The Animal I'm most like: Velociraptor

The advantage is more tire clearance which the front really needs, the back is already 1 1/2" higher.

The advantage to the "Rake" is increased gas MPG's. See, your front end floats up while you are driving so the rake keeps the wind resistance down.

If you dont want to use conduit nuts to prevent slips, use a "U" bolt clamped around her of any thickness you desire.

For the rear, get yourself some 1/2" thick Mudflap rubber or 3/4" plywood and trace your Isolators on to it and cut them out. Stack as many as you feel comfy with and you are lifted safely and cheap.

Just as good, durable, and solid as the other "spacer" lifts and its under $20...Now called the "Poor Man's lift".

Don't hate the PLAYA

Velociraptor? I guess I need to brush up on my paleontology.
So the RAKE you refer to is the way the front end hangs lower?
I just went to the tech section and read how to do this. But Conduit nuts? I read nothing on this but i understand the u-bolts to keep strust from sliding in the clevis Am I correct of this?

Yes to all.

Some folks were running the conduit nuts and another fellow VelociRaptor made some spacers.

Type conduit nut in the search

This is the clevis lift. A Clevis is not a part that you buy, its something on your jeep.

The silver thing is a conduit nut.

Thanks those pics cleared up all questions about clevis lift. does this cause alignment problems though? and what are the benefits of doing this along with other lifts that others have done i have read about.

Yes you should get an alignment.

Advantage...Price

The only benefit of this is it gives you more lift, for free.

So how much bigger tire can you get with just a clevis lift? These 225's are an embarassment to my Jeep. And before you say go out a get a lift, Since I have a CRD, Im waiting to see what happens by Summer for the possible rumor of a Superlift or something from Quinn and Heather

depending on which year KJ you happen to have, on my prelowered '02 sport-I ran 255/70's with nothing but a clevis for 3 months with rubbing at the sway bars and pinch weld. A 255/70 isn't as tall as a 245/75 (the 255 is close to a half inch smaller-30.2 to 30.6 inches tall) but the 245 isn't as wide as a 255 (10 millimeter difference). That width would be enough to get rid of the rubbing at the swaybar for me...But I don't mind a little rubbing...

The clevis lift is really easy to do. The instructions provided on this website are accurate. As long as you have the right tools, it shouldn't take more than 2 - 2.5 hours. Just have to do an alignment afterwards.
