Ok so I got my OME HD Springs, Shocks, Struts, 1/4" OTT spacer, and JBA control arms installed this past weekend, only took a good days work. Now alignment and tire day (245/75R16 Goodyear Duratrac) is coming tomorrow. I'm excited but also worried. I know the alignment will change how things are sitting now and I maybe worrying over nothing. There seems to be about .35 inch between the JBA arms and the sidewall of the tire. I have studied this until my head hurts. The stock (235/70R16) Goodyear Wrangler S/A is 9.5 inches sectional measurement. The Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac (245/75R16) is 9.8 inches sectional measurement. According to my measurements as it sits right now I should have about .15 inches clearance between the tire and the JBA control arm; BUT will the alignment cause the gap between the tire and the JBA control arm to disappear causing the new tires to rub against the upper control arm. I'm using the stock wheels. This wouldn't be a huge deal if I wasn't leaving on vacation next week!! Oh dear, writing all down makes me feel even more worried.....Help, need some to tell they have this setup and it works!! Wes |

After you get an alignment and broke in good it should be OK The alignment will stand the tires up straighter and make the gap more The more you get it to settle in will help as well, getting it twisted up etc will settle the springs in Sit back and relax you're worrying over nothing at this point couple of questions did you torque the UCAs after the weight was on the ground ? If not you should loosen them and torque them again Did you go with the 927s or 790s |

I went with the 927 OME Springs. I call Detours about the backbone and I weighed the winch. It came in less than 100 pounds total. So I figure the 927 would be the way to go since I'm going to change out to synthetic rope before to long and drop even a bit more weight. No I did not torque the control arms with the weight on the them. Are you referring to the bolt and nuts that hold them to the frame or the ball joint nut? I did use a little locktite on the nuts holding upper control arms to the frame. I will retorque everything tomorrow then, I don't like the idea of parts falling off driving through the mountains. Thanks, Wes |

You want to have the full weight of the KJ sitting on the tires before you tighten the bolts that hold the UCAs to the frame. If not you have preloaded them. Lock Tite , OK I assumed you had a CRD so thats why I asked which springs you were using. If gasser and the backbone you should be OK. |
