I searched around but you never can find anything in this forum software. I'm going to be doing rear EMU coils and bumpstops that I bought from JBA and I might be doing it myself with no help. I read some threads on here before about ways to make room to pull the coils out. Some guy even used the OEM jack that came with the jeep to push the axle down so he could swap coils. Can you guys offer some suggestions? How did you do yours to make it easy? Then I assume you have to have the new coils in place BEFORE you try to attach the bumpstops to the coil perch? |

To easily remove spring insert a bottle jack, or even the scissor jack (BE CAREFUL) between the rear swaybar bolt and the little indentation next to shock mount. (see picture below). The stock spring should just fall out. Drill hole in perch for bumpstop. You may have to jack it apart a little more for the OME springs to fit, especially if you are adding any ISOs. Insert top of spring first then push bottom of spring in. Insert bumpstop through spring and tighten. Remove jack used to flex the suspension (slowly). Reinstall Shock. Lower vehicle I know there is a picture somewhere on this site, but I made this one. ![]() LibertyCRD wrote: Then I assume you have to have the new coils in place BEFORE you try to attach the bumpstops to the coil perch? I did this because I installed two extra, for a total of three ISOs. If you are having a lot of trouble you can also remove the stock upper bumpstop, which just pops out.Enjoy the ride! |

Thanks for the tips! I used the stock scissor jack. I placed the bottom of it against the spring perch, and the top of it against the unibody ahead of that point labeled in the photo above. Same concept...but different positioning. It gave me enough space to put a total of 2 top isos per side and then I used a pry bar and some leg strength and popped the Emus the rest of the way into place. Allowed me to do the job on my own in the driveway with hand tools. Also.. thanks to Tommudd for suggesting 1 extra top iso per side...it matches my front lift perfectly and looks awesome now. Woohoo... all new suspension front and rear. |

It's definitely a stiffer ride than the OEM CRD coils. Hopefully the springs will continue to break in a little this year. So.. we know the front 790s are rated for 500 in/lbs. What about the rear 948s? How are they rated compared to stock? |
