What is the diffrence between 4wd part time, full time and low?
I havent even used 4wd low because I didnt relize you had to put the car in netrual to pull the lever further.
what makes them different!?

You have the 242 Transfer Case
Part Time = 4 wheel hi range great for the trails where you don't need the benefit of low range 1:1 Ratio
Full Time = Pretty much AWD great for snowy days in the winter 1:1 Ratio
4-Lo = Low Range 4wd equal torque splitting between both rear ends with a 2.72 reduction Ratio Great for low speed trail riding

ok you told me when to use them but what makes them diffrent. I want to understand how they can be different. if its in 4wd in general i dont see what makes a difference, full time, partime, low

google is your friend.

4 part time, all wheels get power not accounting for differentials. (dont use on road)

4 full time, AWD, use for slippery on road conditions

4 LO, Used for slow technical trails. keeps the transmission at a cooler temperature while crawling or moving over more technical things.

Fulltime mode, transfer case has clutches to allow the drive shafts to be driven at different speeds, which makes it safe to use on dry pavement. This is very much like AWD in other vehicles.
Part time mode is direct to the drive shafts, both at the same speed. if the driven wheels bind, as is possible on dry pavement, you can easily damage the transfer case.

I pretty much leave my jeep in Fulltime from November to March.

In full time it splits the torque 48% front, 52% rear. Correction on the clutch action, I can't confirm that, in fact I think I remember reading that it uses some sort of differential action in the transfer case to allow the drive shafts to rotate at different speeds. In Part time it must lock that xfer case differential.
