so two weeks ago the libby started making a rubber on rubber squeaking noise like a bad bushing or something of the sort. then i started to clunk when i drove over speed bumps. took it to the dealership cause of the extended warranty and i didnt have time to look at it myself. went in and they said that the internals of the rack and pinion had to be replaced and that was what the clunking was. they said that the squeaking was a bad front right strut. i have ranchos with only about 15k on them. they are not bad. they also said that bushings were fine. yesterday i did the brakes and when everything was apart me and 5 other people looked and noticed that basically all of the bushings are cracked and brittle and just about look bad. is this common and if so how much is it to have them all replaced. second issue is that today when the wife got in the libby the a/c wont work on settings 1 2 or 3 but it does work on 4. checked all the fuses and relays and they all seem to be good. i am lost on this one cause the a/c blower definitely works and everything is engaging the way it is supposed to mechanically but i dont think that all is working electronically. i searched both issues and found nothing similar so any help would be appreciated. thanks roy |

Ranchos can and do, go bad, sometimes sooner than 15K. On the second item your blower motor resistor needs replaced. It's behind the glovebox and takes about 10 minutes to fix. search blower motor resistor and there's a LOT of threads on it. I don't remember the # but some have replaced it with one from ... I think.. a sebring? And its a better quality resistor. About 20 bucks at any parts store. EDIT: Did a quick search : here it is : BWD RU1040 - Chrysler Sebring 2001-2004 2.4L gas Advance and Orileys I know for a fact carry it |

p# is BWD RU1040 chrysler sebring 2003ish - upgraded part other than silicone spray, you can disco the sway bar links, unbolt the clamshells holding the swaybar take the rubber bushings and wash them with warm soapy water, lube them up with silicone and clean the swaybar where they rest, lube that up and reinstall everything may help more so than just spraying as for the other bushings, IMO.. 5-6 years is their optimal lifespan before they're degrading - some bushings slower than others some quicker - JBA carries most of the bushings as do several other places |
