As I said the lift is on it is a rusty spacer lift and now I am hearing squeaking like two chunks of metal rubbing together. I checked and double check all bolts and nuts they are all tight. The only other idea I have is maybe the dent on my skid plate is.rubbing on some thing. It sounds like two chunks of metal rubbing together. Any one have any ideas? Thanks Jim |

Is it only when going over bumps while your suspension is at full droop or close to it? Some folks have issues with the springs/lower front spring mount contacting the subframe, just something else to take a look at. When I did my full OME/Bilstein lift I had contact there and had to do a little hammering/grinding to make more of a pocket for full travel without any contact. |

Another thing that is a common issue is the order of tightening down the front sway bar links. Did you tighten down the lnks while it was jacked up. or once it was back on the ground with the vehicle weight on it? It is best to loosen both bolts of the sway bar links, both sides. Then bounce the front end up and down a few times (while all 4 wheels are on the ground, no jacks or stands under it) to make sure it is all free. Then re-tighten the sway bar links. Sometimes they are pre-tensioned from tightening down at full droop. |

Thanks for the ideas I'll take a look in to them. The only thing with the sway bar is it shouldn't make a metal on metal creaking sound. |

I just got.done going through every thing there's nothing on the coils that's rubbing on metal. I loosened the sway bar and put it back so that's good and I went through and tightened all bolts and nuts but it still squeaks. I'm kinda thinking it might be a cv joint from being at a new angel so if that's it just.some drive time should break that in. What do.you guys think. And there's only 34k on my crd jeep. |

Silicone spray all of the sway bar and control arm bushings. Maybe that is the culprit. |

Since you have that spacer lift, are you sure the front shocks are not blown already? |

tommudd wrote: Since you have that spacer lift, are you sure the front shocks are not blown already? Oh yeah, I was not even thinking about it being spacer lift. Could also be the squeaking is coming from the spring to spacers contact/flex. Or like Tom said, blown shocks already up front. |

Some things we need to know to help answer your question 1) did you replace the front shocks when you installed the Rusty's spacer lift? 2) did you install bumpstops in the front when you installed the lift? 3) are you sure the top bolts are good and tight 4) how many miles do you have on the KJ? |

I'm sure the struts are in good shape and no I didn't because I was told I didnt have to. No I didn't install bump stops I just haven't gotten to it yet, but I'm still running 235-70-16 tires so I wouldnt think I would need them yet or am I not right on that. the bolts are all tight I went through it a gen the other day. The jeep only has 34,000 miles on it and its never been offroading before and its been babied every mile. I never thought about the two strut plates vibrating together so I'll try putting a wood shim in there and see if it helps then maybe a piece of rubber in there or some thing. The squeaking sounds like two pieces of metal rubbing together the springs are not hitting on anything I sprayed all the bushings with silicone spray and sprayed every moving part upfront. It does sound like its coming from the driver side which makes sense because it has the shorter drive shaft. And One more thing is it is a CRD |

BugginKJ wrote: Come on over to Mudds on the 23rd and we'll get ya fixed up ![]() Yeah I have a pair of 927s waiting to go on something Now back to the problem who said you did not have to replace the front shocks? with over 30,000 miles they should of been bumpstops should of been installed from the get go and it is a very well known problem when using those spacer lifts, does not matter on tire size that is not the problem. The bumpstop keeps the shock from compressing all of the way down, which it can do on even a speed bump or curb if hit the right way. Did you install longer shocks in the rear? |

Yea the rear is done all good nice new longer shocks back there. I would love to come see you guys but I live way away from you guys intact I think I'm the only lifted KJ in upper michigan lol. How Would I tell if my front struts are shot or not I realy dont think they are but lets just see to be safe. I do work midnights tonight so I'll shim the strut and spacer in the AM and see what happens and I'll keep you all informed. You all are down in ohio right? Thanks for all the help and let me know if you think of anything els. |

I'm way up north in the Iron mountain area. I'm probably a good 11 hours from the Michigan ohio line. |
