I did search, online and here. What gears are in the rear diffs of the 02 KJs?

Depends. Mine came with 3.73 but I paid for the upgrade from factory. There should be a small metal tag on the dif cover. If not on back perhaps on front. Hope the helps.

If you have the V-6 it should be the 3.73. If you have the 4 cylinder it would be 4.10.

Hi,
Would that indicate if you have 4.10 Gear in both axels?
I have a CRD 2.5 2003 and on my front diff found a tag stating, if I remember correctly, 4.10 !!

Unless someone purposely put different gears in, you should have the same gear ratios in front and back. If they did you would tear the vehicle apart when you tried to use 4 wheel drive

Hi,

I agree with you & I don't have any issue when using 4x4, still I am trying to find out what is my ratio in my axel. Any other way of finding out?

Fil.

I found the specs on line at http://www.automobile-catalog.com/auta_details1.php

Looks like your KJ has 4.11 gear ratio

Bugnout,

does this mean I have 4.10s or mine are 4.11s are different?
And just out of curiosity would I be able then to fit 265/75R16 without loosing to much power?

When I changed my gears, the front gears from Dana Spicer were spec'd at 4.10, the rear gears from Superior Gear were spec'd at 4.11. I asked the same question. the answer I got was there is so little difference between 4.10 and 4.11 they are essentially the same.

I think 4.10 is your only choice, the only available gears are 3.73 and 4.10. If your willing to invest in a steel diff from JBA, then you get 4.56, 4.88 and higher. Can't tell you if you'd loose too much power, but my 2.8L moves 32" tires pretty well. I'm running 235x85R16's.

With the diesel and 4.11 gears, you could probably run 33's and not notice much loss of power.

No 4.11's for the KJ.4.09's for the front and 4.10's for the rear is the lowest combo using OEM diffs.

Gas 2.4 KJ,auto or manual--4.10's
Gas 3.7 KJ,auto--3.73's
Gas 3.7 KJ,5 speed manual--3.73's
Gas 3.7 KJ,6 speed manual--3.55's
US CRD(auto only)--3.73's
Export CRD with 2.8,auto--3.73's
Export CRD with 6 speed manual--?
Export CRD with 2.5,auto or manual--4.10's
