ok.. the search is on. i've been saving threads on gears for a long time.. and it's come time to bite the bullet and order some. finding them has proven to be more difficult then i expected. reider racing is out of them... does not know when they will have them back in stock (maybe a month) and couldnt quote me a price. superior has the rear gears and install kit. $250 for gears $100 for install kit. they say they have the front gears for 2002-2005 KJ's but not a 2006. they say they are different?????? is that true?? Trailquest.com is calling me back tomorrow... claim to have front and rear gears but 'not positive' 4wd.com has G2 4.10's for a chry 8.25 29 spline diff. $202 for ring and pinion and $75 for install kit. gears are out of stock. does anyone know WHERE i can buy front and rear 4.10's and install kits? also wheres the cheapest? does anyone know WHERE i can buy a Detroit Tru Trac for the rear chry 8.25? also wheres the cheapest? thanks in advance also if anyone has the part numbers for front (D30A) 4.10's, rear (chry 8.25 29spl.) 4.10's, or a Detroit tru trac for the rear (chry 8.24 29spl) ... could you please post them? Thanks in advance! |

The only company that makes D30A gears is Dana/Spicer.Can try any Crown Automotive retailer also.I have been seeing the prices for gears and such have greatly increased,8.25 gear sets used to be about $200 and now there way over $300 per set. So would this be the proper item to try and order? http://www.crownautomotive.net/product/ ... 085AA.html Does that come with everything? or are there more parts that are necessary? The Sub-Category says 02-07, but the product page says 02-05. Is there a difference in model years? |

Those are the correct gears.Reason for saying only '02-'05's is the 2.4 gas and 2.5 CRD(export) production stopped and only those 2 models used 4.10's. |

My 4:10s are from Trailquest in Ohio.. I replaced everything except the axles in the rear....the bearings are by Timken (usa) and everything else is from crown automotive including axel seals... I had about 3 30min talks with the main man at Trailquest... He told me I could order my rear gears from a few different manufacturers. Get this. I could order gears from Yukon (the most expensive) but they were not MADE by Yukon.... There were other cheaper sets of gears. But Trailquest said they could have a little noise from them... I forget the brands off the top of my head. I have it written down somewhere at home but I'm far away from there. Trailquest also said that the crown automotive gears were the best... about right in the middle price wise too...100 or so more than the cheapest... and about 100 less than the fake Yukons.. the front gears were on backorder the last time I checked about 5 months ago. I suggest calling Trailquest... very informative... and very nice people to deal with... That's all I got.... Goodluck Alex

hahah thanks for all the responses! i'll call crown tomorrow and see where that gets me. I called trailquest today and a friendly lady answered the phone (after hours) and one of the 'guys' in the shop will call me back tomorrow. excited to get this gear ball rolling. Tomorrow i'm also going to look for a diff with 4.10's from a 4cyl. superior said they had gears for the front D30A for 02-05 liberty's... TJKJ.. would those gears work? I know you mentioned that it's only because 06-07's didnt come with 4cyl's but is there any other reason they wouldnt work? |

Not a bad deal at all, not as good as mine was but well you know! can't wait till you get them installed and drive it. Bet it is going to be fun to drive! |

i know! should be a blast with my 6 speed i just ordered G2 4.10's from 4wd.com that came with the install kit for $276.00 shipped next decision... do i want a detroit tru trac ($583.24) or a detroit locker ($630.00)??? any input would be great. i had an aussie before and i dont want to be dissapointed with the performance of a tru trac. but i dont want the SNAP BANG POP of an aussie. i dont mind the tires squeeling around corners.. i just dont want the sloppy manors of an aussie and afraid the detroit would be the same. |

sota wrote: I want to know how even more useless 1st gear becomes with 4.10s installed. when stock it was pretty useless.. after adding a lift, roof lights, 300-400lbs of armor/bumper/winch, steel wheels, and 265/75/16 mud tires.. first gear.. any gear really... has no guts at all. It's still driveable but will be MUCH MUCH better with 4.10's. so far.. front dif - $300. Rear gears and rebuild kit- $276.00. i'm into a 4.10 swap for $576.00 and gaining a spare diff (stock one removed) i can swap the front diff myself... and i have a guy that will regear the rear for $100.00 so 4.10's installed for $676.00 i'm thrilled!!! (but i still have to choose between the DTT/detroit locker and buy it before i can install the gears |
