My 2005 Cherokee(Liberty in the USA) 2.5 CRD has got steel wheels,which I'm thinking of replacing with some refurbished alloys from another Jeep.The database which I've checked says the following
Pitch circle diameter PCD mm 5x114.3,centre bore CB mm 71.6,offset mm 42.The PCD and CB are the same for Cherokee XJ,Liberty KK,and Grand Cherokee 1984-1999,but the offset distance is different it being 20,40 and 30 for these three models.
Is it possible then to replace my wheels from say a 1995 grand cherokee,and does it matter that the offset distance has been reduced by 12mm ?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You sure?, I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, less back spacing pushes the tires out from the wheel well not in. I believe the stock KJ rims were 5.25" BS, and the rims I run now are 4.25" BS, tires are pushed out from the wheel well.
