I have an '05 limited libby and it has begun to squeak when I hit dips in the road. It sounds like more of a grinding type of squeak. Seems to happen when it compresses and then once it shifts back to a normal position. I understand that this is not a lot of info to go on, but this is about the best I can describe it. As far as I know nothing much has been changed with the springs or shocks, could that be the issue?

Thanks,
Joe

unload the front sway bar and take the clam shell bushings off (the two things in the middle of the bar that are held on by fist sized metal shells) and wash them in warm soapy water and put them back on with ample amounts of lithium grease

then it's probably your shocks pharting :P

or the coils creaking on the iso's
or the uca bushings
or the lca bushings
or the oars rubbing together
spray white lith on things till it stops,,, or... doesn't then you know what it be :P

Awesome, thank you. I am pretty mechanically stupid, so I will for sure take a look into it.

I hope it's not the front shocks, considering they;re under a year old and never take much abuse. It could be LCA bushing, considering theyre stock and have 155k on them :ALONE: . not UCA's as they were freshly replaced with JBA arms. its minor and happens normally when it is cold. If it gets any worse i'll look into it :JEEPIN:

irol

actually, i was thinking of typing "If you've recently installed JBA UCA's" and some how didn't :P

did you happen to torque the uca bolts while it was still in the air? if so that puts a preload on the bushings, may be a simple matter of loosening the uca bolts a few turns while it's on the ground bouncing it a bit and torquing them back down to get the preload out of them - or..

it could be the change in temperature - I know the temps been about 20-30 degrees lower here than it has been in the last month+ I'm starting to hear a few noises too as bushings harden back up and over the next 2 months you, and I, and the rest of the forum will see probably 30-50 posts asking about weird noises

don't have to take the wheels off - don't even have to jack it up, you're prob thinkin bout the UBJ , the ball joint at the knuckle real close to the wheels - i'm talkin about the 2 bolts and bushings that are sort of concealed where the arms go into the body of the vehicle that are accessed from under the hood

just have to remove the airbox and the battery / battery tray, but i'll be honest I usually don't remove the battery - just disconnect it

for the time it takes me to take the battery and battery box out with it's usually gnarlynasty sandy battery box retainer bolts, I can put the drivers side bolts in the UCA's if someone's holding the uca or it's already installed - if it's unlifted or with a stock front bumper I can actually hold the uca and put the bolts in myself because I'm some sort of contortionist freak

once you got access to the bolts, or have determined whether or not you have the sockets and extensions necessary to get to them you can just loosen them a few turns, bounce the jeep a couple times like a spider monkey and then torque them back

OR-- take it back to that shop you had it done at since you paid for the job to be done

and be like.. So when you put the UCA's back in.. you Torqued them in the air like it's supposta be done right?? And when they're like YEH..

Say.. Well that's cool.. Cause it's SUPPOSTA be torqued while it's on the GROUND and have a (hopefully) little chuckle with them :P

Shouldn't take them more than 15 mins to do it with it on the ground in the parkin' lot

Bingo! this could really be part of it too... I usually notice it in the colder months. That is somewhat a relief
