I want to spend less than $500. I will not be doing anything crazy like rock crawling or anything. At most i will be climbing curbs and trail riding. I want to fit 31's but i also dont want them to look like they barely fit in the wheel wells.

Got my humble 2" lift from 4WD.com for my occasional off-road adventures and because a lifted KJ just looks better. Was under $500.

I got my Rocky Road Outfitters OTT 2.5" lift for $333 shipped with shocks. The complete package. I put 32"s on it, with a little rub so 31's would fit just fine. I don't care what anyone says. I've got almost 6K on the lift now with NO PROBLEMS. And if you check my signature you can see it works just fine, and I myself don't do any rock climbing, down here in FL it's mostly trail riding.

Check it out http://www.rocky-road.com/kjsus.html

Rusty's offroad coilover kit will do you perfectly. And it's in you budget.
