Post subject:  preparing for axle/intermediate replacement - questions?

I have the reman NAPA half-shaft already. Where are you guys sourcing the intermediate shaft, seal and bearing?

Also, are there any special tools required to pull/replace the recessed seal and bearing?

Thanks.

symptoms:
Lots of up-down play on inboard side of axle; zero in-out play.
On certain bumps, sounds like the whole front end will drop out.

I'm gearing up for a whole front end replacement, I've seen interm. shafts around $130 on the web. I had horrible vibrations and thumping, then one day a loud popping like popcorn. Both CV's were toast and the clip inboard on the shaft popped off. Very interesting when I popped the dif. cover off.

Any tips or tricks? I assume the intermediate shaft slides right out. Is there any retainer inside the diff?

What about the seal and bearing? I don't see anyone changing them out.
