Hi guys, need a little help with the wife's 2004 Liberty. It's gotten cold here lately and the colder it gets the more her front shocks are making noise. Driving down a normal road it's silent but when you go over train tracks or a speed bump in a parking lot it's noticeably noisy. It's got just shy of 90k miles on it - I'm assuming this just means it's time for new shocks. No need for new springs as well, right?

I've been reading old threads about shocks and most people are asking for recommendations for shocks for a lift - but this is just the wife's grocery getter and kid taxi so there's no lift planned here. Stock height is good for her. Any specific suggestions for this application? I'm assuming the OEM shocks are too expensive for what they are. So what's a good alternative? Bilstein's are probably overkill. I've seen the Rancho RS5000's mentioned a few times. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

No, I'm not sure. How would I tell the difference?

Personally I wouldn't install new shocks without new springs. Stock springs on the KJ are pretty weak to begin with. Installing new shocks with worn springs is not the best way to go
Would ride 100 times better with new springs and shocks
But if just going shocks buy good ones not cheap things that will give you a crappy ride just like you have.
Bilsteins are a good shock as well as OMEs

Just for the heck of it,
measure from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare, most I see are sagged at least an inch or more by 90,000

Oh and it could as well be the sway bar bushings little shot of silicone spray and it goes away

Just spray the bushings up front with silicone spray, bet it helps the squeak but not the ride

Well, I sprayed the carp out of the bushings over the weekend with some silicone and I don't think it got any better. I actually sprayed anything that looked like it might articulate and make noise on the front suspension. I took it over a nearby parking lot and ran it over some speed bumps to try to work the silicone in and it doesn't seem to have done anything to make it better. I'll give it a couple more days and see what happens.

I'll have a look, thanks.

Any recommendations from anyone on the best place to buy online? It needs to be someplace with a good return policy in case I need to return things.
