Anyone have any new ideas concerning Dana 30A failures? I have been thinking the AMC Eagle front DANA 30A might be plausible, same mounts and design, however I haven't figured out for sure if it is cast steel... Has anyone cryo'd this assembly, the guys I talked to about cryo say this is the perfect application...cast aluminum is full of stress risers... Also considering building a few steel frontends, but albeit somewhat cheaper than the ones currently available... Thanks, would appreciate some creative thoughts... |

I've never had an issue with the D30A. I do acknowledge that Utah isn't known for it's trails like other states back east. |

They seam to fail when you have uneven traction and are climbing. It is something I think about when I am in that situation. So far so good.

Learn how to drive it,yes the KJ takes a different driving style, and it will survive just fine. Adding the DTT or ARB will greatly help reduce the chance of breaking it,again when driven correctly.Keep the tires under 265/75's also. |

Click that link in post #2, I believe most breakage is due to inconsistency in the casting of the housings. |

Used to work in an Alum.foundry making cast wheels. Amazing little things can cause big problems in the final product, and how test results can be manipulated. . |
