14KMI and the passanger side upper ball joint is dead. For those of you that were at Paragon a few weeks ago for the MA run, it turns out that this was the nasty noise I heard... this sucker moves about 3/8 all over the place!

Now i get my first chance to go to the dealer, and beg for a clean warranty claim! ya right. well maybe they wont notice the lift, mud, rock rash underneath, the ripped up inner fender and cracked bumper ahh they should look past all that... right!

well I will keep you posted and tell you all about the fun at the dealer.

If you can afford all that, you surly can afford to buy new ball joints. Cost not too much and aftermarket is greaseable what you need to go offroad with.

If they won't do the warranty, find out how much $ for the stock upper arm/joint assembly (the joint is not replaceable). I think they are about the same price as Al's custom upper arms.

I just got off the phone, the first person i talked to said that the part was back ordered... and doesnt know when it would come in.. I called back 10 mins later, got someone else who talked to the parts manager called me back and said that they are overnightin the part from another dealer for me... so far so good, but they still havnt seen the jeep!

if not... Al's arms were already on my mind!

Just had my upper "A''s replaced and lower ball joints with an alignment under warranty, had 33K on my '03 Liberty, last month. Don't let the dealer give you any B.S. the components are a problem and they know it! Joe

I dumped it off today and they seemed cool about everything... BUT they still did not see the truck! I cleaned her off really nice top and bottom... put the stock steelies and AT'a back on and told them to call me if there are any issues... so far no call!

also last night the jeep started hesitaiting really bad! doesnt sound like it is a single cyclinder misfireing, it sounds like bad gas! and no CEL. It cleared out a bit everyonce an a while and ran perfect for a few seconds then same thing came back. so they are going to look at the fuel filter and what not.

Good luck Mike. Keep us posted. We need to start a database on lift-friendly service bays.

If you replace the ball joints...keep the old ones so we can use them for the lightbar. I'm still trying to find time to call you.

Since I was on that same Paragon run thought I'd check the new A-arms and ball joints for play, ball joints were okay but the drivers side upper A-arm forward mounting bolt was loose, now I'm gunshy and going to have to check them all and torque them down! Joe

Joe Jeeper: I told ya i heard something, and it was geting alot worse as the day went on!

Dog_party: That would be one monsterous light bar with ball joints for pivots! lol.

Well the good new is, they are right on time... finished exactly when they said it would have been done. Never said boo about the lift, or anything. I went and picked it up from the hottie working at the front counter, and signed the bill. The total came to $498! they replaced BOTH sides upper balljoint/controll arms, and i guess i grenaded a spark plug and had a mis fire so they put new plugs in it too. All under warranty and i just signed the bill for $0.00!

Like I said... I took the mud tires off and put the stockers back on... cleaned the hell out of the underside and motor compartment, and took the tow hooks out of the recievers. dont know if it helped, but I know I dont like working on dirty cars/trucks so do them a favor and clean it before they lift it in the air!
