Howdy everybody just to introduce myself, my name is Phil and im the proud owner of a 2004 liberty 3.7L V6, the car has been wonderful to me, couldnt ask for a better first car (other then something with a v8 and 300+ hp ;-D). That being said im currently having an issue with what i believe is my front end. The car had a shake in the steering column that would become evident when braking (more prominent at higher speeds). It would also pull to the right so my thought was that i must have a warped right rotor which would explain the pulling and the shaking, the pull is an issue with no brake applied as well but only slightly. Ok so i replaced the front right rotor and the shaking improved significantly, although not totally. My other issue was that, again more evident at higher speed, the car would almost "swerve" its hard to explain but it almost feels as if the rear is drifting. I assumed this was low tire pressure maybe a dent in the steel wheels i have or something like that. Well i recently purchased new tires and i am led to believe when the tires are balance the tech would be made aware of any dent etc... so new tires and new rotor in place i hoped all would be well with the vehicle. Well apparently there is something deeper going on here because the darn thing still pulls to the right and it still shaked upon braking. I know this is really weird to picture but its almost as is the car "turns itself" when i hit a rough patch in the road, it will swerve suddenly in the direction being pulled. Its not impossible to control but makes me nervous. the swerving at high speeds seems to have gone away but im still having issues. Anyone have any ideas whatsoever, i would like to start some offroading mods but dont see the point if the darn thing cant drive residential streets. Thank you all in advance and i hope someone has an answer or has maybe experienced the same problem so im not alone in this boat.

Welcome.
First off, you are going to get hammered on calling the Liberty a "car" even though, IMO, it's build like a car just with 4x4. Put a full frame under it, and then I too, will call it something other than a car :jester:

Sounds like you've got a worn part in the front end. Sometimes worn out tie rods will cause a front end shimmy. I'm not an expert, but it could be the pass side CV joint is locking up on you causing it to pull. My suggestion would be to take it to a trusted shop who does alignments/front end work and have them go over it with a fine tooth comb.
I think I've read on here too, if the ball joints are wore out on the rearend tri link, it can cause front end swaying, but not sure.

Replace both front rotors, not just one,and put new pads on also and google "bedding in pads" and follow it.For the other issue maybe worn rear LCA bushings.

The feeling of the rear drifting is probably some bad bushings in the rear control arms. Before paying for those replacements, check to see if you live in a state where the new lower control arm recall is in effect as of yesterday. As TJ said, replace the other rotor as well. Then as Tahoe said, have a shop check everything. Its probably a worn bushing or ball joint in the front end.

I had a bad pull when my calipers were sticking. Eventually the caliper went KAPUT and clamped the pads on the rotors. The rubber brake lines were collapsing when the Jeep was hot (and they were brittle) and would not le fluid out of the caliper, back to the MC. A bunch of rust and gunk also wasn't helping the fluid out. Just another thought to look into if your calipers are sieizing up causing a pull to one side.
